please full view...Thirty-six layers later, after going through numerous preparatory sketches, tears of frustration, countless computer problems, and a few minor changes in the end...
Here it is.
I finished it. And ahead of schedule, too. It's been a strange experience that's helped me to grow in different ways. In the beginning I was enthusiastic. In the middle I became discouraged, frustrated, and for a while I really hated this drawing and wanted to give it up. But now that it's finished, and I step back and take a good long look, I can truly say that despite the numerous problems and inperfections of this picture, I am pleased. I see the work I've done and say that it is good.
I don't expect everyone to understand the meaning behind this picture. It's based on both a concept, and, what I believe to be an actual occurence. Some of you may even be confused (especially about the TWO nailprints...) and I fully expect to recieve at least one comment from someone who objects to the very idea I'm trying to portray here. But I'm putting it up anyway. I've worked too hard on this, I'm not going to keep it hidden away. And I hope that if someone happens to know what I'm trying to say with this picture, that it will touch them in some way.

I don't understand the palm one. Originally in the beliefs back then, the hand extended up to about the middle of the forearm (the bottom part of the arm, by the wrist...did I get the word right? x_x) and the only way that a nail could go through skin without breaking bone and keep Christ on the cross for 6+ hours was if it was nailed through the wrist, it would also bleed him to death. I don't understand the palm one though x_x And I don't understand the child... *dies*

Yes, that fact is very true. I guess the easiest way to explain then why I put one in both the palm and the wrist is to stay true to fact and also tradition...? yes. The child...is a boy named Joseph Smith.

cool image, we never do really see the other holes depicted in art, I wonder why...
I decided, durring conferense this month, that I want to draw a picture of the first vission that is a little dirfferant than the traditional presentation, but yours is even more differant than what I had in mind, I like it. maybe when I do mine i'll show the dual nail wounds also. i'll think about it...

OHHHH okay. Well, it's a really weird belief in my church...but I think there're historical facts to back it up too. Like, they say that usually when they crucified people they'd also like use rope to help hold them up so the nails wouldn't rip through the hands because of the weight, but for some reason they decided to just go through the wrists and hands both and not use rope. I think it was because it was the day before the sabbath and they wanted him to die before it came because they believe it's bad to leave a dead body out in the open on the sabbath or something?
Anyway, yeah it's really weird. *blink*

Why are there 2 nail holes?
I know it's portrayed a lot of time that people hung on crosses were nailed through the hands when in actuality it would have to be through the wrists because the hands would rip due to the person's weight and gravity and all that stuff... Yes, I have looked into this stuff too much.

Yes, that's the idea. It's sort of a personal belief....er...I guess the way I could explain it is, that I knew that whole thing about the nails tearing through the hands, but I also wanted to stick with christian beliefs, so I put both...? Well, that's not the whole reason, but it'll have to do for now *getting into personal stuff here*
