I thought it sounded so awfully like Yami talking to Seto, since he's always trying to get through to him during their many duels. Something like that. o_o
Oh yes, BTW! ...while we're on the subject of these two characters. ^_^; I am quite fond of this pairing... so let this be a warning for those deathly allergic to shonen-ai, or just Prideshipping in general. *laughs* Although I've never drawn any couple/romantic scenes before unless requested to (always het), since I suck badly at those. I still have some urges though...
Anyway, I wanted to kinda draw this out... however, I wasn't really sure of where to go with it, and I'm not exactly satisfied with the result ...I hate crowds in more than one way, it seems. >_

I see it's been, like, months since you replied, but I'm still figuring out DA since I don't frequent it often.
Yeah. Prideshipping? Not my thing, because I just can't see Atem bottoming, and Seto definitely isn't "uke" material, either.
As to the "Yami", it's because, in the entire series (that I recall), I don't even remember hearing him refered to as "Yami". It's inaccurate. He is a yami in the sense of the yami/hikari relationship, but so is Bakura to Ryou's being a hikari. (I don't count Marik as a yami because he's more of a seperate personality than an actual entity) Because of that, I only ever refer to him as Atem (or Atemu, rarely), Mou Hitori no Yuugi, Yami no Yuugi, or Mou Hitoru no Boku (if it's Yuugi referring to him).
Just a pet peeve, though it's bearable if the story (or artwork in this case) is just that exceptionally good.

Mmhm. The nickname "Yami" only exists in the dubbed series. It's too generalized anyways to call him "Darkness". I don't believe in the yami/hikari concept, because no human being can really be pure light or dark.

Yeah, most people seem to be attracted more to the psycology of the Prideshippihg relationship simply because it's Yami no Yuugi and Seto, who by nature are both dominant people. I just don't care for Yami no Yuugi to be with anyone except for Yuugi.
I don't mind the yami/hikari concept when it's done right. While it's true no human is purely "light" or purely "dark", if you go on the concept that Yuugi and Yami no Yuugi are two halves of the same soul then it works based on the mere principle that they aren't all light or all dark, because the soul is one and the same. They'd be like puzzle pieces, as cliche as that sounds.
"Yami" would apply to him in the original manga series and, subsequently, in the Toei anime, but even then, by the final arcs, it's obvious that Yami no Yuugi has gained an actual personality - even the art style ends up changing to what becomes more familiar to us as Yuugi-ou: Duel Monsters. This is more evident in the manga than the anime, but noticeable either way.

Haha, really? Ah, come to think of it... I've read quite a few prideshipping fics that concentrate more on their verbal interactions. To me, it's very interesting, the conversations between the two. It's like a war (duel) - they are able to counter the others comments no matter how witty they are, especially since they're both geniuses. I guess that is why the Atem and Yugi pairing didn't hold my attention for very long... they are too submissive around each other. ^^
The yami/hikari idea, I never really took in... I kinda see it as a fan-made thing, since the concept was not touched on very much in the series. Does it mean that Yugi is not a "whole" if he doesn't have Atem? He's just like a normal kid in the Toei anime in high school, and Atem was the soul of a Pharaoh 3000 years ago.

I suppose it's not really that I have anything against Prideshipping so much as I just prefer Puzzleshipping or Rivalshipping, but I think that's just because I happen to like Yuugi-kun so much. I've read a lot of Puzzleshipping, though, and I definitely know what you mean about how passive they can be. There are some where they aren't quite so...
On AFFnet, try reading "Gravity". I can't remember the author, unfortunately, but it was just one chapter, non-smutty, and was really well written. It plays on the dynamics of their relationship well, I thought.
And yeah, there is definitely such a thing as too over-the-top for the yami/hikari thing, though I've seen it portrayed well. It's like panning for gold: sometims you find something of value, and most of the time...
Still, I think Yuugi will always be my favorite character, and thus I'll always prefer a pairing with him in it. Though Anzu is definitely not one of my prefered partners - that whole "can't decide who to love" shtick.

Ah, don't get me wrong - I love Yugi! He's always been my favourite! But maybe I favor him in a different way... I very much believe that throughout the story, one of Mr. Takahashi's intention was to make him stronger like Atem, which I really like. I guess... I'm not all that interested any romance involving Yugi because I like to see him independent... he is, but he's frequently assumed to be the opposite (from what I've seen). >: Puzzleshipping is cute, it makes me melt inside, but not satisfying, even with the rare moments that they do not come to an agreement. *sweatdrop* However, I'll definitely check out "Gravity" when I get the chance!
Yami/hikari makes me think "cliche", but yes, I have seen some very interesting varieties. I remember reading one where the two sides are switched up -- super fun to read. :3
About Anzu... I kind of like her. I don't care whether she gets Yugi or not as long as if she (or anyone, really) does, she is completely devoted! Her fickle mind worries me sometimes... but I do think she portrays a lot of the rl girls rather accurately.
