Always dug the funky design of these... definitely made for space. Really nice update on her. My only complaint about it was that once the missile fired, (& more times than not missed), it had no other offensive capability. I'm willing to guess you have some hidden gun ports, or smaller internal missile bays.

You know...the idea of hidden gun ports or internal weapons sounds great , actually...
I've designed this like an F104, just for an interceptor role and not suitable for close range combat ...... naaaaaah !! gunpod are in order !! . Maybe, in the original design , one missile alone was only for dramatic purposes on the TV show....you know....."Oh shhh***t , we lost the UFO, now what "..

Yeah... That's my point. No military designs 'Derringers' anymore. They want machine guns!! Load that bad boy up!! (Within reason of course).
Perhaps a couple of small missile pods. The big ticket weapon might not do the whole job, but secondary stores can still soften them up for planetary defenses.

The original and my take on the design are not that ugly..in fact ,there is someting about the Interceptor ... I dont know...Its an iconic ship !!
