So, this is my first real attempt at creature design. Made with colored pencils.

I call this a Tolk'mar, and it's for a science-fiction story of mine.
A Tolk'mar is an animal used mostly for recreational riding or sport, similar to horses today. The picture I've drawn is that of a wild Tolk'mar mare, but there're hundreds of different breeds just like with horses today. Tolk'mar stallions will have slightly larger head ridges and a heavier fore-head-bone as they will sometimes hit their heads like rams do to fight over mares, though only rarely. It will mostly be prancing.
Main feature of Tolk'mari is their speed, up to 80 km/h, so I used the body of a cheetah as a base. But as they should be usable as mounts, and also more persistent runners than cheetahs, I've had to make it a little more solid, otherwise it wouldn't have been believable. For the same reason, wild Tolk'mari can't have huge head-ridges - they would be too heavy and too much of a handicap for fast running. Domesticated breeds though can have huge ridges just for style. They have hooves similar to goats for good grip at many different grounds, their natural habitat though would be open plains with some bushes and some trees like the african savanna.
