In Star's universe the Kanelos Mining Conglomerate, or also known as the KMC, is a large shadow corporation running hundreds of legitimate and illegitimate businesses across the globe. Star monitors this organization for possible threats to humanity.

While most employees of the KMC are white collar normal folks, the Board of Directors has acquired the services of several more super-powered individuals to facilitate their more questionable ventures.

From Left to Right are:

Gwyneth Costello AKA Spark...She absorbs all types of energy and discharges it in the form of electricity and lightning. She is the polar opposite of Dylan Matthews

Dr. Andrew Handey AKA The Magician...He is an expert in all forms of magic believing it as just another science to be explored and exploited. He has doctorates in physics and chemistry.

Vladimir Slovenski AKA The Barbarian or The Beast...The Barbarian because of his chosen attire and professional wrestling persona. In his homeland in the steppes of Russia he's also known as The Beast due to his ability to transform into several animal forms, his preferred being a giant bear. He's also been seen as a wolf and ape-like creature...some believe he is actually a Sasquatch but he refuses to provide a real answer for the source of his abilities. Extremely strong capable of lifting an 80,000 lb tractor-trailer rig.

Jackson Matthews AKA Cyclone...Where his cousin Dylan manipulates all energy fields, Jackson can manipulate the weather by altering the jet stream, creating cyclones and tornadoes, causing droughts, etc. Unlike Dylan who uses his abilities for the general good, Jackson uses his for personal gain. He is Marta Kanelos' right hand.

Marta Kanelos AKA The CEO...Not only is she the third generation Kanelos to sit on the Board of Directors, but she also possesses the ability to sense and manipulate the emotional states of others. Only Jackson Matthews knows of her hidden power. Under her control, the KMC has quadrupled its size and influence.
