I was cleaning my favourites folders the other day and I came across the scarfblob ref and THE MEMORIES HHHH. These things were the love of my life back when I first joined Deviantart.
The first original species I ever made were inspired by these. (I never uploaded anything about that species though, because back then I didn't have a tablet and so I'd draw everything with pencil and paper, and trust me, lining over a sketch with a mouse in Gimp is hell)
Seeing scarfblobs now reminded me that six years ago, I was an adoptable artist colouring crappy bases with my mouse, painstakingly saving points to buy better bases.
Anyway, I thought I'd make some scarfblob adopts to share their cuteness, but I grew too attached to these, Especially Dorie, Maxwell and Adrian. So, Idk If I'll end up sellign any of these at some point or not... but enjoy the cute fluffs anyway, and here's the scarfblob ref :

Sure! An open species is a species that anyone can make a character of. So, you can go and read about scarfblobs on their ref sheet and then make your own scarfblob character. And for this species in particular, adoptables are also allowed so you can make scarfblobs to sell or give away as well.
But every open species works differently depending on what the creator's rules are.
It's important to note that you should carefully read the ref sheet I have linked and the description that goes with it and follow the rules/guidelines of the species.
