Sorry if I sound like a dumb, but the ref sheet of the octappis are the common traits?Β

You don't sound dumb! It's a legit question.
Β

First of all, octappis don't really have common traits. A common octappi is as pictured in the middle of this ref, a quadruped with a tentacle tail, a round head and sucker ears. When an octappi doesn't have anything more or less than these things, it is considered as being all-around common.

Traits belong to either the uncommon, rare or very rare categories for octappis.

Now, a "common octappi" can either be an octappi with all common traits OR an octappi of the common breed. There are many breed of octappis. An octappi of the common breed can have rare traits, making it a common octappi with rare traits.

Hopefully that helps, but if you still have questions, feel free to ask them and I'll do my best to explain!

for an octappi, are their sizes measured up to their shoulders? i know some have long necks (including my own), but would be included in height?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

rah-t In reply to scooby-wont [2019-10-30 08:26:14 +0000 UTC]

yes, for octappi with long necks their height would be measured to their shoulders, usually. but for differentiating between common octappi and giant octappi I think the overall volume of the octappi matters more. By the I mean for example: An octappi who's shoulder height is no higher than that of a horse, but it is very very long, would be a giant octappi.

Hopefully that helped!

Can the fleshy growths (uncommon) be shaped like flowers? Or are they able to grow flowers on themselves?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

rah-t In reply to BaituStudios [2019-10-28 11:12:30 +0000 UTC]

They shouldn't be shaped like realistic flowers.

Octappi cannot grow plants on themselves, but if you want an octappi with flowers on them you can add them as accessories! Just like some octappi might have floating wisps, orbs, jewllery, I think flowers somehow worn on their skin (they can just be flowers stuck on the octappi, that way they can look like they're growing from it) would be the best way to go about adding flowers to your design. If you really want them to be fleshy, you can maybe make a mockup sketch and send it to me to see if it's okay!
