For some reason, I'm reminded of this one episode of the Ducktales cartoon, where the crew find themselves in "Swizzleland," fighting off a catastrophe involving swizzlesticks and a giant robot mantis of mass destruction.

looks interesting. I've never heard of the duck character before.

Howard The Duck has appeared off and on in the Marvel universe since the early 70's I think. He's teamed up with quite a few superheroes.
There is even a movie they made about him, believe it or not.
Which I am slightly ashamed to admit that I kinda thought was entertaining.
