Description
Here is another pencil animation featuring little Anna and Elsa from Disney's Frozen! They're playing hide-and-seek and Anna has picked a truly terrible hiding spot.Anna, Elsa, and the curtain were all drawn on separate frames (115 of them total) and composited together with the background in Photoshop CS5. There are some things I could tweak with the animation, but I've been working on this for so long I just wanna call it done. Enjoy!

The product of 60 hours of labor. Oh, but it turned out so very nicely, and their movements are so natural. I really like their little facial expressions. Really wonderful work!

What the movie was supposed to be from the start. Not the overrated CG shit it was mutilated into.

Hm, I forgot the exact amount since it's been over a year since I made this, but I believe I worked on it for around 10 hours a day for six days. So, it took around 60 hours total.

Yeah, I'd say so. Many things in this animation were new to me (such as compositing animated elements, animating running, etc.) and took some figuring out.

I love this so much! I can't even begin to imagine the effort you must have had to put into this. It's so adorable, baby Anna and Elsa is a huge weak spot for me. Will definetely be having a look at the rest of your gallery.

Thanks, I'm glad you like it! And yeah, it took a while to make, but it was great practice. Hope you enjoyed looking through my gallery!

An incredibly cheap traditional animation setup! It's composed of a pane of glass, a portable luminaire, a ruler with some wooden pegs drilled in it, and a box from Potbelly as a support (very professional, I know). I got the idea from this video . I scan the frames I've drawn and composite them in Photoshop CS5.

Could you please make a tutorial on how to make these pencil tests?

Are you wondering about the setup or the animation process itself? I've directed people who've been inspired by my animations to make their own to this video , which goes over how to make your own traditional animation setup for cheap (the actual store-brand materials can be quite expensive). However, if you wanted to know how I animated it (like a frame-by-frame process?), I probably couldn't tell you. I know so little about animation I have no clue how I'd explain it!

I love the old fashioned feel! You should put it into color!

Thanks! And I was considering it, but that would probably take more time than it's worth.

But would you like to see it in color? And how would you put it into color?

I kind of like it sketchy as it is, truthfully. If I were to color it, I'd probably apply color to the frames in Photoshop. However, that'd probably take a long time and I'd rather spend it making a new animation than coloring.
