Description
1. Sketching2. Here I lay down flat colors and do ambient occlusion.
3. I start painting in the diffuse light and a bit of speculars
4. More refining and start painting in details
5. Add weathering/details to the armor
6. Post-processing and minor fixes here and there

This might be what I'm doing wrong when I try to colour digitally. I was trained traditionally, and focused on drawing and inking, so I naturally want to create a fully-detailed drawing before going any further. But you show here that for a digital painting style, less detail in the initial sketch probably frees you up a bit. It's good.
