Briefly run before being turned into CSX's Dash 3 Spongebob SquareCab engines.

Good point. Or until CSX sends them in for rebuild (which is why CSX bought them).

Apparently these engines are being rebuilt into the CSX Dash-3s at MPI in Boise, ID.

That's very interesting. If I had my say, I would leave it in it's black livery, and add a Clinchfield emblem on the side of the nose. It would certainly make railfans happy.

Definitely. Even though that may never happen, at least we got the CSX emblem units.

I have this engine for MSTS. That black paint looks really sharp, I have to admit.

Agreed. A little repainting and in could look like a Clinchfield Railway unit.

They should paint more hood units black. It suits them, probably because I have an eye toward steam.

I was thinking yellow number boards, yellow safety stripes on the pilot, and black instead of white so it would appear more like a CRR unit.
Here's an image of a CRR unit:

Actually, I got this off RailPictures.Net. I must admit that these new CSX SD40-2 units from NS look interesting.
That reminds me, I found something that you may like: an ex-BN E9 in Nashville.

Pretty close to a WM unit! The WM had locomotive paint scheme like this called "Speed lettering" though the letters were italicizedΒ (and they Had SD-40-2s).

I also see that now too. The CSX needs to repaint some of these units to resemble "Clinchfield" and "WM" units. They would have the same colors, but have CSX logos.

Indeed, unfortunately CSX isn't really Railfan friendly.

True. At least the units will most likely stay like that for awhile.

Clinchfield is a railway that used to run in the Appalachian coal fields.
