The idea originally came after watching Princess Mononoke and gawking at the amazing art that was produced for it.There is no better place to kick back and read a good book than under an magical tree... seriously try it!
Took way too long to paint this, re did the background more than 10 times almost leading to a complete drop of this one.
But I got some awesome help from AssasinMonkey during his frequent streams and I was back on it!
Yeah I don't paint forests very much as you can tell XD going to have to mend that!
Since I'm getting close to the official date of it being 1 year since I fully painted my first pony I have cut out and cropped the first painting into a piece of it's own which can be found below.

This version took around 15 hours roughly, I don't have an exact time record but that's my guess.
Although I did a lot of different versions of the background so all in all probably 30+hours :L oh god

30 hours I think that longest i have ever spent on a drawing was around 4. I should try the more paint like style sometimes i haven't really ever done it but it seems that all the art i like the most. (yours included) are less line art based and more painting based.
Do you every live stream your art work? i would love to watch how you make stuff.

Yeah I very rarely have any form of line art left in a piece, it's really not all that hard to get into doing just takes a little practice like all things. I do stream, in fact I try to stream every piece I make usually quite regularly too.
