It doesn't make you a criminal, but without it you can sound dumb.The issue with me is that my friend always would get on me about my grammar and treat it like as if I had just killed someone infront of her, its a misplaced comma not a murder investigation! I've even tried to correct my issues with it but every teacher I've talk to says that I make the same ammount of mistakes with grammar as anyone esle.

I get when I meet someone on this site who has terrible grammar and they are from another country, but it's just sad when Americans can't even type coherent English.

I don't mind bad grammar or spelling out of individuals. Nobody's perfect. I usually have to proofread my stuff a few times before posting.
But businesses I expect to at the very least spell correctly. I don't like "chtspk" and I really don't like the Chick-Fil-A advertisements.

I agree if you have a business that you should spell things correctly, it makes you look unprofessional.

That's funny... When I started writing to the different webpages at the late 1990s everyone always warned that 'don't trust to anyone who writes with a terrible grammar... It can be a Nigerian scam!' Nigerian scam can be for example an e-mail message or webpage that includes computer viruses. Nigerian scammers are criminals and Nigerian scam messages usually had a terrible grammar.

Now it is true that most of the people that write with a bad grammar in different websites are probably people that don't speak English as the native language (like me), people that live in the United States (there really many people have problems with spelling because their school system is not as good as it is in many European countries) or people that have dyslexia. The people that write Nigerian scam have now much better computer translation programs and because of that they write better English than most of the Internet users...
Maybe now we all should be suspicious for everyone that writes with a too perfect grammar... It can be a Nigerian scam!

lawl, well the issue with me is that I had a minor learning disability which effected my grmmar horrible, I've overcome most of my isssues with it the only big problems I have is with commas and spelling, but there is speel check for that.

I'm a reasonable grammar Nazi though. I can stand it in a conversation, but if I'm "reading" as in reading a story, book, or fanfiction... well I'd probably bitch a bit if it has one too many errors. Nothing wrong with having an opinion, but if you want people to read your stories, learn to write. Please. It's not that hard a request.

I understand, writing is were grammar should always be correct, but the thing is that whenever I would have my friend proof read anything I wrote she would just put a red line though all the words and say I was destroy the english language. Actually I'm looking for an editor would you be interested?
