idis isn't my original character, rather a character cut from the original comic strip back in 1996, and is something of the team mom of the kids. I used what little info there was on her available to flesh her out a little.
Hailing from Atlanta, Georgia, Isis Shirley Mitchel can be described as a "mother hen", caring for everyone who comes her way, offering a kind word and a listening ear. Despite her mostly gentle nature, Isis isn't immune to bouts of sass and sarcasm. She is a loyal friend through and through and would probably kill for you.
Once she moves to Woodcrest, she is happy to find there are other black girls in the neighborhood, including Shauna, Jazmine, and Mimi. With Shauna's help, she becomes the founder of the Woodcrest Black Women's Council, though it does consist of only four members including herself. They spend much of their meetings talking about culturally significant events, how black girls are portrayed in media, and other pressing issues. They usually meet at Mimi's house since she has a mini fridge and TV in her room.
Isis loves dancing, spending a good chunk of her free time studying the background dancers in music videos. She joins the J. Edgar Hoover Elementary Color Guard team (there's no dance team, unfortunately), and because of her skill ends up being the team leader, though finds it challenging to integrate the marching and flag twirling into her routines sometimes. Once she gets to high school, she joins a proper dance team, as well as instituting her Black Woman's Council as a school club, though they are down to three members once Shauna went to college.
She would help Jazmine some to terms with her own black identity, as well as helping her style her hair more than the afro puffs she usually wears. Jazmine doesn't understand at first, but she figures things out. Isis would also offer to teach Sarah how to help Jazmine with her hair too. She'd look up to Shauna as a sisterly figure, and tries setting her and her uncle Abel up together (Abel is 17 when the Mitchell family moves to Woodcrest, btw).
When she moves to Woodcrest, Caesar is immediately smitten with her, chasing after her (only occasionally literally), and though Isis is smitten with his cheerful, easygoing self, she enjoys playing hard to get. Eventually, they do start dating in high school, though they would have that "like an old married couple" vibe about their relationship.
Her family consists of her mother. Maryanne, grandmother Shirley, and teenage uncle Abel who may as well be an older brother, as well as a fat old calico cat named Molly-Jean. Her father died from cancer the year before coming to Woodcrest, and she's still grieving somewhat. Because of this, she can sympathize with Huey a little bit, and tries to act as a motherly figure to Riley, though he's very resistant to her influence.
She also spends a lot of time with her grandma in the kitchen. Her favorite foods are cornbread, hush puppies, and sweet potato pie, though Huey would try to convince her to go vegetarian for her own health. She doesn't go fully vegetarian, but she is more careful about what groceries her mother gets.
Her favorite kind of music is old school 90s hip-hop, stuff like Run DMC, TLC, Salt n Pepper, but she's not immune to the newer stuff like Destiny's Child, Brandi, and Aaliyah.
I wasn't sure how to make her hairstyle, either relaxed (left) or natural (middle), but I figured she would still be cute no matter how she wore her hair. The last one is Isis wearing a silk turban to protect her hair while she sleeps. I don't know too much about black hair, so if there's any info wrong, let me know
