First assignment of Studio level painting! The subject was collections, and the obsession that comes along with them. When it comes to paintings, I have to do something that I can relate to, so of course I started thinking about things I collect.

I am a collector. A curator of inspiration, let’s say.

I collect labels, postcards, photographs, artworks, etcetera, etcetera. I string them up on the walls of my room, because I love surrounding myself with it. (My room is kind of an eye sore.) So I brought some of my collection to class, sifted though them, chose some of my favorites, and painted them trompe l’oeil style. I also included some of the actual pieces.
