My only complaint is that the shading is a bit rough, and most importantly, too desaturated
It doesn't fit the otherwise warm scene. Overall good job though!

As someone who sees a mother-son relationship between the two, I find this incredibly sweet.
And honestly, it isn't that farfetched. Dragons in mythology seem to grow up in a sort of curve, where they mature rapidly but age incredibly slowly after a set point. Spike wouldn't look too much different from what he does now soon after Twilight took her exam (which was when she got her cutie mark), so I imagine this was "done" mere months after her exam, after she had time to look up information as to how to, essentially, raise a child on her own, with or without correspondence from Celestia.
