Think it's cuz someeone drew the mane6 with everyone being white...except twilight who was like super dark. Think it's the fact tv shows always have that 1 black guy...seems it's translated onto twilight. Cuz apparently, nothing is sexier then a smart black chick. Or in my case, Indian.

the personality of a character can change the way people think of them, i don't think she fits it because of her personality is very nerdy and she's inside a lot, she does not fit tanned, wouldn't it be more natural to be pale?

Yes, of course that it would fit that an indoor-person is pale, but if that was the case, why aren't people ranting around over a pale Fluttershy, who is outdoors a lot?
Some people are tan simply because if their ethnic background. But since the ponies are no such thing as ethic in that world, so why not play around with the designs? I think myself it would be boring if every one of them where white skinned...
