 Other:

short version:
- My life with a fantastical twist and my dream stable.
- Aline is superstitious of the  number 19 especially  if it’s on a Tuesday ( it’s the day her dad died, yeah long version for that)
- Things get to her more than they should and she tends to mask her feelings by playing the fool or  making sure to stay oblivious to what’s going on as a defense mechanism.
- She doesn’t like drama and conflict and prefers to avoid arguing or fighting and if there is ever conflict she usually puts on a mock angry voice to argue her point.  But she usually ends up going  or doing what the other side says if they have a stronger point.
- She has a tendency to start singing the lyrics of the song you just said the words to in a completely unrelated sentence or repeat a quote from the movie.
- Pigeons fascinate her  and are often distractions.
- Goat cheese is the default answer to everything after the answer is 42.
- and so much more….

long version/ back story: Trigger Warning (Suicide)  read at own discretion
Aline grew up in and around Seattle, Washington spending most of her time with her grandparents and sister while her parents worked.  Her sister and her where only allowed to watch  the public broadcasting  station  for an hour or one of three movies( black beauty, lady hawk, and a documentary on Mount St. Helens May 18th 1980 eruption*) while there  and spent the rest of the time drawing or playing outside if the weather permitted.
Her parents divorced when she was 10 and her father remarried when she was 11.  She didn’t like her step- mom or siblings mainly because her step mother seemed so fake and had higher standards that Aline and her sister Amelie could never quite reach.   The marriage caused a rift to form between Aline and her father. He couldn’t see what was happening nor understand it and tended to be on her step mothers side. Anything to make her happy.    Aline escaped mentally and turned to books she also smiled less and became withdrawn at school.
Aline was walking through the woods one day exploring and photographing what caught her eye. When she walked between two trees and suddenly found herself to be on a completely different world. The dense undergrowth famously known in the Pacific Northwest had suddenly become tall grass and the trees where all different and set up in pairs. She turned around and saw the two trees she had just walked in-between and tried to back track, but nothing happened.  Soon after she met M- the prince of a kingdom that bordered the valley of trees as she later found out.  He was just as clueless as to her on how she got there except for legends in the past of tree travelers who once reigned over the valley and much of Gart’h and pointed her in the direction of the ruined tower. He ditches her there for reasons unknown (I haven’t figured it out plot wise yet).  She ends up looking for and hunting down an artifact that had come from the valley of trees  making friends along the ways, she gains the loyalty of Tiger Eye, The Wind and Lonely Star who later on come with her back to Earth.
During her adventure she also helps a woman who had run away from her kingdom because of a prophecy concerning her. The woman falls in love with one of the men in the caravan Aline and her where traveling with and they marry. Aline parts ways with them for a year or so.  On her way back to the valley of trees, to head home, she comes across the same caravan with the couple, they have a set of twins, brother and sister. Aline learns that   this is what had been prophesized and the couple along with the rest of the caravan fear for the babies lives. they managed to   hide one whenever an outsider was amongst their midst or while in town. But they wouldn’t be able to keep it up so Aline took the girl and passed her as her own as she traversed the rest of the way to the valley of trees. Once there she set base in the tower  read some of the scrolls and  records that where still legible to get an inkling  of how things where organized if at all and how the process worked and then tested it  with lonely star and the winds help she also had to  find the two trees she had walked in between.   After a good deal of searching she found them and traveled between them to go home M-  reappears and  watches over the infant on Gart’h as   she went on recon to see what year etc. it was.while Aline is on earth she meets back up with her sister and mom only a few hours had passed ( there’s some weird thing to explain the time thing like a tree traveler can choose the  time they travel to as well as the planet)  she eventually brings the  baby over and  gives her over to an adoption agency.
In  the years after her main travelling adventure her father divorces her step-mom with a  half-sister to put a wrench in things. Aline watched as her father began to drink heavily and spew words of anger towards their now thankfully ex stepmom, then on a Thursday towards the end of November her grandfather calls to let her know her father was at harbor view medical center being treated for depression, because he had gotten in a car accident and later on the same day attempted suicide. The news shocked Aline and her sister and they went to go see him at the hospital, he pretended like everything was fine and reassured them that it was all going to be ok.  Eventually he was released and they got to see their half-sister Allie on the weekends. Aline struggled through high school** and tried going to college but she found it hard to motivate herself she also started volunteering at a horse rescue near her aunt. She  had fun and spent most of her free time with her family  cracking off jokes making fun of each other and reading and if things ever got to tough she would visit the valley of trees just to take a breather.
Then on January 19th of 2010 while she was taking the winter quarter off to volunteer at a horse rescue the phone rang at 2:00 am and her aunt came rushing over to her room with the news that her father had committed suicide.  The news left Aline and the rest of her family along with his many friends devastated.  After the funeral Aline continues to volunteer at the rescue then goes back to school for the summer before calling it quits.*** Aline ends up using the gold and gems she gained from her adventures to purchase land on the Olympic peninsula and build her dream stable. She made a point of planting two trees from the valley in her back yard of the property and encourages them to take on the form of two birch trees just like the ones in front of the first house she  lived in.  tall with white papery bark. She hires on Morgan and Azura as her two main trainers and Donald as a maintenance manager.  Everything else plot wise  generally falls into place from there.

*Because of this she likes black horses, scottish accents; knows that sometimes the good guys wear black and the bad guys wear white and thinks it should be that way more often because things aren't always what they seem; and Mt. St. Helens is her favorite volcano/ mountain after Mt Rainier/ Tahoma which is  the one viewable from her property on sunny/ less cloudy days.

** She  had trouble in english literature and composition  she had to take sophomore english three times, junior english three times, and senior english twice. essays... writing her opinion and thoughts on things in the books based on the essay prompt.  It stressed her to the point her mind would go blank and she ends up crying for hours. It was a mix of being afriad of what others thought of her opinions,  being graded on it, and what she was thinking being misunderstood along with messing up on proper citations. besides all her fears and other negative thoughts would build up and she ends up writing about them instead.   It transferred into college and she still can't write essays with out crying at some point. she only made it in her last year  of high school because of a special education teacher  buckling her down and  forcing her to use the  unfinished essays from her previous attempts.  the upside Macbeth, Hamlet,  Lord of The Flies, catcher in the rye, House on Mango Street, Poisonwood Bible, The Great Gatsby, The Things They Carried, and other  books and poems are  forever in her mind.

*** In real life I go on to work at the rescue/ stables  for three years then get  a second job at another horse stable for two years then quit both in March of 2016 because my aunt moves away to another state for a higher paying job in her field and  rent around the area was too much for how little  I was making  ( I was being paid 2.50$ per stall not by hour 13 stalls  in the morning and 4 in the afternoon one that has straw cus that horse gets pressure bruises and tends to cast her self and the other  extra  bedding for the same pressure bruising issues but  he likes to mix his poo around so it takes twice as long to sift through it all, but pay was the same). waters and  bringing horses in/ feeding them was not paid... but took just as long and some times longer if things came up like farrier, or  some other emergency like colic or something else along those lines.  and the closest place I could live was with my mom and that was a two hour drive back and forth by car, had to fill the gas up every day or every other day if I felt like pushing it.  I now have a job as a dog groomer where I get paid  hourly wages and much better work hours.  and then covid struck and  boss decided to use it as  their excuse to retire ( they where planning on retiring at the end of the year anyways) so i'm currently unemployed and trying to figure out what i want to do next.

dawwww no barrel. ;n; That hair though, it looks so smooth and shiny! And celtic knots are so hard. How did you manage to draw those. Anyway, I really like the feeling and atmosphere in this picture; it's just not a plain ref for the appearance, it's also really personal and everything feels well thought out to match her story. (which is really cool and I've always wanted to know more about the tree traveling part)

Thank you so much. I've always  Been hesitant to write her story because it is so closely intertwined with my own. i think the idea of traveling via trees started in late elementary school  while playing with my  sister and friend in the front yard we would  go to gart'h* by going between the two birch trees there.( i loved those trees they where my friends I would greet them every day coming home from school with a hug) i've played around with a story several times,  but never got far, though some facts and ideas of how things work have slowly built up over the years.
her reference picture is actually an old portrait of myself in front of a sarong with a celtic tree of life knot work on it that i had told my sister to  stand on a chair in my room to take the picture. the sarong was a present from my dad he was really into that whole genre of celts, fae, magic etc. I had wanted a green sarong and the fact it had a tree on it was just a bonus. my mind immediately went to  that picture when  I decided it was time to make Aline a reference it fit perfectly for what I wanted it to represent i did try a few other ideas but they didn't sit right with me they seemed too much and didn't represent the most important aspects i felt where part of her and felt  that  a simple background would do better than sceney. Why i thought celtic knots would be  simple i have no idea. I have trouble with celtic knots too, my sister is a lot better at tackling them than I am  she has an account here OidhcheBan-dia  with one or two knots and a whole bunch of other pattern work that is just mind bogglingly fun to look at and study.  I just started with the tree then  followed the branch into the knot  work and went from there using the reference to  help me if I got lost.

*a world I created during my afternoons at my grandparents during elementary school where dinosaurs, unicorns, walruses with gills, and seas horses etc. could all live within traveling distance but stayed in their valleys/islands/ ecosystems originally,  things have changed around a bit. and i ended up focusing on lonely stars story( she popped up when my dad married my ex step mom and centered around good vs evil and  being different lonely stars father  sides  with her  twin brother and i can't remember if  all unicorns had wings  and lonely star just had smaller defective ones or if none of them had wings and her brother and her were the first to have them.... any ways  epic magic battles  later her mate gets killed and she goes into a state of mourning until aline  comes across her and offers her   a break from it all. then tiger eye she was a story i created in anticipation for the spirit movie after seeing a trailer on the shrek dvd.  her mother gets rounded up after prematurely giving birth to tiger eye and tiger eye being left behind she gets saved by another mare who  has a miscarriage and is raised in that herd theres some conflict between her and the other foals  and she eventualy gets round up and learns about the people of gart'h   aline buys her in an auction.  the wind came about while  dreaming  about  being on my way home from middle school where there was a base ball feild lined with black poplar trees  to mark school property from a park that was behind the school  and having two pegauses one black with a white mane and the other white with a black mane appearing between two of those trees and  chasing me through and me becoming stuck on that side ( back when the tree traveling idea was new and i was working out scenarios i ditched that idea but i kept his design and character for rts in the early days, i think i'll have her meet him shortly after heading out of the valley of trees or perhaps later after purchasing tiger eye.
phew that was long   feel free to  just reply with 'cool '  or some other one or two word phrase if you need to get through your messages.

cool. B) No seriously it's ok, I really like reading about people's characters and worlds and stuff! Honestly I love how you took something from your own life and made it into this! It's super awesome. Most of my characters and stories are also based on things I used to write/think about/play when I was much younger. It wasn't this well thought out though and definitely not as interesting. xD

Well you made it look really good in any case. I said earlier I really love how you drew the whole thing.
