Resketch of the design from my 2011 justice league piece.

Since my first version of this design was implemented 100% digitally last time, I was quite curious at how this version would turn out. I have to confess that I am quite satisfied with it.

My design changes from that image to this one are fairly limited. I removed the blue "V" shape from the chest and chose instead to incorporate a square coolant viewer. I altered his left hand glove. I changed the color of 2 or three lights and buttons and I streamlined my abdomen design... but it is pretty much the same design. The bubbles in the gel coolant system are a bit more distinguishable this time round but the idea is still the same.

As for those ideas... The first thing I did was try to ensure that all of the moving parts was appropriately articulated. Of course there are access panels and individually assembled pieces but the main point of this premise was prior to the new 52 or cinematic versions of the character... This was based on advanced human tech, not coming from a motherbox or otherwise alien tech. A lot of Cyborgs body is still cold metal... but there are other parts that are definitely rubber or plastic. This is at the end of the day an advanced series of combined top of the line prosthesis that were added onto a trauma victim... Cyborg is every bit as much Robocop as he is Mecha. I had the choice early on to go very Geiger with this design, but I wanted my version of victor to be as much iphone as iron man. These are state of the art robotics, but they are not "Asimo", nor are the "Kuratas"...

These are BOTH battle ready and function friendly. So I looked at robots, armor suits and prosthesis in order to created a composited concept. i He couldn't be all sharp edges and angles for me, but he also didn't need to look like a harmless appliance or stereo. Victor still has a life to lead. As much as he may at times feel like the Tin Man... he should still see a bit of the athlete he was in the mirror. He still needs to feel like he is part of humanity... even when he knows that he isn't. So average people shouldn't run away from him on the street. Ideally kids, should see him and want to run toward him because he reminds them of their phones or their toys, but criminals ... They should run away from him because he reminds THEM of a missile and they know that once he has them in his sights. he won't miss . That was a tough mark to hit... but I think I got right in the spot that I wanted.
