Victor's enthusiasm is very infectious, even if it's marred by traumatic origins, self identity issues, some marital strain (which surprised me when I read it) but it's good to know that he has friends he can fall back on. No one should be alone, and it's good to see this badass can still rock a civilian look despite the obvious.

So his mother's alive on Earth 27? Interesting...

Yeah, his mother's death didn't seem vital to his origin so I thought "We have enough dead superhero parents. Let's let Mrs. Stone live."

I see someone got a new middle name. And I imagine his weight is somewhat variable in this universe. Also, does he ever sell his inventions on the side? Or freelance for Wayne Enterprises?
Aww, man, he and Sarah Charles broke up? That's too bad.
Never knew Vic to live in Central. If not in San Fran or Detroit, I would've expected him to come from Keystone, where he's teamed up with Wally.
Not personally fond of all the more exotic sci-fi elements in Cyborg's origin stories; they never seemed to fit him. Still, we've only got, like, one version of the story without them, so I imagine I'm going to have to keep seeing them for a while.

Keystone City and Central City are basically the same city.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

nightcrawlerfan19 In reply to Roysovitch [2016-04-22 20:41:07 +0000 UTC]

Not usually. Central City is more of a R&D, white collar, efficient city. Keystone is about the industrial, the blue collar worker, and high speed. They're closely related, but they're no more the same city than Minneapolis and St. Paul are.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Roysovitch In reply to nightcrawlerfan19 [2016-04-22 20:48:47 +0000 UTC]

I meant distance-wise. They're across the river from each other. I didn't mean they are literally the same city, just that they are next to each other.
Also, in your own argument, wouldn't it make more sense for a fusion of man and machine to be from the R and D tech hub of Central City, and not its blue collar sister city across the river?

Reminds me of the Weeble's song Waffles.

I like Raven's "enthusiasm" it is nice to see her chanting waffles, albeit reluctantly.

Cyborg and Beast Boy definitely strike me as guests on "Good Mythical Morning."

Loving this sub-series so far, sir! The podcasts really are just like I'd imagine life in Titans Tower to be like! Nice nod to the "Waffles!" song, too!

Personally, I really don't get all the hate that "Go!" seems to get from fans. It's actually very funny and quite sweet in places, and I actually really enjoy it. And I say that as someone who watched the original series during his teen years as it aired. Yeah, come get me "haters". I'm waitin' for ya...

But yeah, fantastic stuff as always, Roy! ^_^ (Also, would you consider doing a reference to "Night Begins To Shine" at some point too? That song was just amazing! )

I agree with your opinion on Teen Titans Go

comparing it to the original show is like when people compared TMNT 1987 to TMNT 2003

Both shows have good and bad elements, but one focused on comedy while the other focused on action.

necromaster13 In reply to Darkdealer65 [2016-04-23 22:39:29 +0000 UTC]

I'm glad to hear that someone does! Is it me, or does nearly everyone seem to hate "Go!" unconditionally?

And that's actually a really good comparison. I may have to cite that at some point!

Not to get me wrong, I'll always love the original series more than "Go!", but I'll never understand those that hold such an abhorrent hatred for it. Of course it's not the original. Its not trying to be the original. It has the same voice actors and character designs, yes, but that doesn't make it the original! And yes, some of the humour is childish, I agree, but I also admit to laughing my ass off while watching it. Beast Boy nearly murdering Aqualad for Raven's approval? Not having Slade in an episode billed as "The Return of Slade"? Starfire becoming a supervillain and BLOWING UP THE MOON because Robin needs a nemesis? I love it. I genuinely love it! XD

(Also, wordy. Apologies! )

No need to say sorry

I get wordy like that too

Actually, here are a few things I like about the new show

    1.      The original voices are back

    2.      Silkie has a bigger role

    3.      Beast Boy and Raven are getting shipped

    4.      Starfire being scared of clowns

    5.      The references to the old show

    6.      The emotion clones

    7.      The episodes reminding people that Raven is hot

    8.      A few of the songs (a lot of kids got in trouble for “waffles”)

    9.      Starfire’s rage when Silkie disappears

    10.  The intro

That being said, there are a few things I’m not fond of

    1.      Terra being a bitch

    2.      No Slade (actually, if he ever does show up, it won’t be Ron Perlman doing the voice)

    3.      Robin being a whiny brat

Cyborg's origins great, his cybernetics being part of Brainiac instead of New Gods Technology was good, since your doing less dimensions and time-related stuff the change of his cybernetic origins worked well in your universe. Also, Cyborg being from Central City makes him more closer to the Flash and STAR Labs.

I hoped the Vox dialoque is a parody and not how they act as a team?

Teen Titans Go (TV series) is the "cancer" of not just good superhero TV shows, but also all TV series.

I pray Roy you do not let your children watch that piece of stupidity?

Nickmaximus In reply to SirKibbleston [2016-04-22 18:51:00 +0000 UTC]

If it is a throw away joke, as most teens do that, just I hope that Roy's interpretation of the characters have none of the "intelligence" of the teen titans from Go.
I am not saying Roy's teen titans are like the teen titans from Go. I was just mentioning the show and that it provides unintelligent jokes and promotes stupidity, and that it basically insult fans of good (be it serious or funny or both) superhero media.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SirKibbleston In reply to Nickmaximus [2016-04-22 20:10:11 +0000 UTC]

Fair enough. I believe he mentioned his kids watching the show, so maybe he just took some inspiration from that, and didn't base them off that entirely. I agree with you in that TTGo is pretty childish, and it's not exactly intelligent and riveting storytelling, but it is a kids show. At the end of the day, Roy was just being funny, and I believe it worked.

Nickmaximus In reply to SirKibbleston [2016-04-22 21:38:31 +0000 UTC]

TTGO is a kids show, but it should at least have morally funny jokes.

Roy's VOX is funny.

Roysovitch In reply to Nickmaximus [2016-04-22 17:22:48 +0000 UTC]

I based most of that VOX on the original Teen Titans cartoon, which has a surprising amount of waffle-centric dialogue.

Now, as for Teen Titans GO, that show will forever hold a very special place in my heart and I will not get in to an argument about it, I mentioned it here:  Earth-27 Weekly #5: The Secret Origins of Earth-27One year ago today, the seed of thought that would grow to become Earth-27 was planted in a hospital room.
I sat there holding my stillborn son and was thinking of all the things I would never be able to do with him. In the short time I got to spend with him, I made sure to watch cartoons with him and his big sisters. The only cartoon on at the time was Teen Titans Go.
That made me think about how I would never get to introduce my son to comics and superheroes.
While I was holding my son, my phone gave me an alert to an e-mail. I had commissioned Phil to do headbusts of some characters I had created for a sci-fi series of stories I had been planning to write. I looked the picture over and sent Phil a brief "Looks good. Thanks." kind of e-mail and went back to watching the cartoon with my kids.
In the weeks that follow my son's burial, I was in and out of therapy appointments and support groups. One person in a support group mentioned how buying things makes her feel better ("reta
I will say it is silly and juvenile and you need to take it for what it is. I used to not like it, but I have had a change of heart and enjoy watching it with both of my daughters... and enjoyed watching the few episodes of it I could with my son in the short time I had with him.

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

Nickmaximus In reply to Roysovitch [2016-04-22 19:06:42 +0000 UTC]

I do not want to argue about Go as well, cause the more people talk about it the more publicity it gets.

It is "good" that you take the show for what it is, even though I do not, mostly because it could be more. While the show is a "insult" to the fans of the original Teen Titans show, I for one in the beginning did not care about the fact that is was a comedy and was actually hopping to get a laugh out of it, but when the jokes are stupid (not poor, stupid), with bad morals and the fact that the creators themselves "insult" fans, I cannot see it as anything else as a way to cash in on a popular previous show, a way to make kids laugh at unintelligent jokes, not providing anything morally good in return, which infuriates me.

Hope your son (bless his soul) and your daughters remember more the time they spent with you while watching this show instead of the show itself.
