.....so.. this was for ~shirano in a part of a collaboration. I-- I'm really sorry for going overboard... I hope you don't have any.. trouble.. coloring this.
And because I spent a lot of effort on this one, I decided to upload it as a deviation instead of the usual scrap. I'll probably scrap it after (if?) shirano colors it and posts the finished version.
Anyhow! My first fanart for this gallery. I've always wanted to draw Martel. Namco did a good job in designing her, especially for the ToS version. Done with the new micron pens and Copic multiliner that I recieved for Christmas. Thanks very much to ~SoulVulture and ~MellySandshrew !

Yep! This picture is actually her ToS design. Her ToP design is significantly different, and harder to tell unless you use a reference from the OVA.

The line art is absolutely gorgeous!! The line quality is admirable - so clean, detailed and fluent you make drawing look so easy though I know you slaved over this one

I wonder how you ink so smoothly and beautifully without using computer tools to do it! You must have one fantastic scanner! If I ink with a pen of any sort, the scanner makes it look blotchy and disgusting. How do you do it!?
This is simply glorious... There's so much detail to it. Even as an inked drawing, it looks incredible! This should not go into scraps! The detail in the flowers and in her hair... This has to be the most beautiful drawing of Martel that I've seen in ages... I'd go so far as to say that I like this WAY more than official artwork and the such... It's amazing! This is definitely one of your better pieces of work... the detail in it blows my mind! Aah!

heh, I don't envy shirano having to colour this... XD Nice work on the lines though... man they're clean. The hair is fantastic as per usual... every strand is so nicely sculpted, especially up on the branches.
The hand beneath her elbow looks like it could be placed slightly off, but it might just be because it's so covered. Flowers are great too... are they based on any real plant?

No, the flowers are all made up. They're the generic flowers I draw when I don't feel like being creative ^o^;

You are right to not feel envious of me. I've almost been driven to kill myself twice while coloring this, and I'm not even finished with the flat colors. o_o; I get so confused while coloring this. I only wish the end result will be just as good as the lines. D:
(however, it IS Becki's lineart, so I guess it's worth it. XDDD)

But thank you! In the end, it all boils down to patience. Actually, I've been practicing by drawing pictures this complicated for a while, I just haven't been posting them. So all it takes is practice!

Man, what always boggles my mind about your drawings is how the lines are so perfectly placed. Not a one is out of place or wobbles! It looks so professional. You must have such a steady hand.
Also, this is very pretty. It brings back memories to see Tales fanart again... ^^

Haha, if you actually see the original hard copy of this, you'll see that the lines (especially the thinner hair lines) are not very smooth @_@; That's one benefit of shrinking huge pictures, all blemishes disappear!

It's on an 8.5x11 inch paper, but when you scan things, they have a tendency to be huge >_>; And for some reason, I don't adjust the dpi on my scanner anyways ^o^;

Martel was one of my favorite characters in ToP, especially after some of the scenes with Dhaos and her. She played a small part, but was so meaningful. Much like a lot of Tales NPCs nowadays... *laugh*
