mur·der
/ˈmərdər/
Noun
The unlawful premeditated killing of one human being by another.
Verb
Kill (someone) unlawfully and with premeditation.
Sorry, that does not apply to hunting in any way. Hunting is both lawful and not done to one human to another.

Nope.
Hunting isnt wrong. We hunt for good in the end. To save livestock, to prevent extinction.
Why not go bitch about poaching?

Hunters are driving wolves TO extinction. NOT helping them.

RainUndead In reply to SymphonicTardis [2013-08-10 00:31:38 +0000 UTC]
Dont comment if you know nothing.
Wolf numbers are utterly fine. They are not close to going extinct , they are listed as least concern. You know what happens when wolves overpopulate? They kill off all the prey and starve themselves out.
They will walk, ribs poking out until they are to weak to move, curdling up in agony. Thats what happens when they are not hunted
Hunters buy tags to hunt wolves. These tags go towards wild life conservation. That way they KNOW ow many wolves were killed that year. They cant just go out and shoot.
You lower there numbers a bit, they dont eat all the prey. Everyone lives.

Why is it such a sin for humans to hunt. Humans hunting is just us taking our role in the food chain. Why is it "just nature" for an animal to hunt but a great act of evil for a human to hunt?

Hunting = killing.
Killing = evil.
Ergo hunting = evil.
I believe that's the general logic people apply. (Ignoring say, the killing involved in making bacon.) There's also the stereotype of the hunter seen par excellence in Wallace and Grommit:T he Curse of the Were-Rabbit; a white middle aged man who kills only for the fun of killing, someone with all the power who wishes nothing but to exert their influence over nature. It's the same vein that gives us the corrupt corporate guy or the villains in Captain Planet.

Aaah but when such things are applied to humans there tends to be a double standard. Animals kill, people murder. Animals fight, people war. Animals discriminate, people are racist.
That sort of thing.

Ziblink In reply to RainUndead [2013-07-31 02:44:01 +0000 UTC]
The idea most commonly posited is that humans are *aware* of what they are doing and to some extent this is true; when a cat 'plays' with a mouse it has no ill intent and you can't really call it cruel. When a human does the same thing it would generally be considered animal cruelty because the human knows it is inflicting pain on another organism.

Indeed and the argument commonly used to paint hunting as evil is that humans are aware that they are killing something, they are murdering as opposed to an animal's blind instinct. (There's alsot he argument that unlike most animals we don't need to hunt, that we can go off and drink a carrot shake or something instead.)

Eh, they can be quite refreshing if you know how to make 'em right. (Unlike wheatgrass, nothing rescues those.) The secret is ice, mint and a sprinkle of cinnamon. My grandmother drank so many she turned orange. (She had to take all meals as juice.)

Oh yes, all you have to do is eat\drink enough of something colored to overwhelm your kidney's ability to filter it. Drinking beetroot juice makes your pee pink before you too start to change color. It's not permanent though... unless you take colloidal silver: www.rosemaryjacobs.com/argyria…
The only way to get the silver out of you is to have your skin sanded off, and even then it doesn't work totally.
Silver man, scary stuff.

Oh, and don't forget the people bawing about how hunting is 'torturing the animals' 8D
You can debate whenever hunting is murder or not, but I think those animal-right-freaks have forgotten the meaning of the word 'torture' xD
But yeah, I really hate when people start baawing about how hunting is evil and keep missunderstanding the difference between hunting and poaching.
And I'd say that it's more 'torture' to let predator end up starving themselves, than a fast shot.

Hunting means responsibility.
I am pro-hunting and I am for people who hunt for some goof reasons and know what they are doing.
For example here in Germany we have strict laws about hunting and we are not allowed to hunt or pick up dead animals without a hunting license. Hunting needs to be trained here which costs alot of money and when you got your exam you are a licensed hunter and can get a weapon license which also needs to be certified by government and costs money.

Well hunting other humans is evil.
But yeah, I agree. I don't think hunting is evil much, either. I personally don't hunt or plan to, but like many people, the I think the only time hunting is bad is if the animal is left there or thrown away or something.

RainUndead In reply to Zayit [2013-07-27 23:22:11 +0000 UTC]
Well, hunting humans is murder so xD Yeah.
Aye. Most parts are used, thouh sometimes carnivores are left, as there meat is pretty useless.

Zayit In reply to RainUndead [2013-07-28 00:04:53 +0000 UTC]
Oh yeah, you're right. Now as awful as it sounds, if the creature is of high population, then doing nothing with them afterwards isn't as bad as say leaving an animal that can be used productively... In my opinion, that is.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
RainUndead In reply to Zayit [2013-07-28 00:09:23 +0000 UTC]
Of course. If an animal cant be used, other animals may eat it too so. Then nature will take its course on the body.

Zayit In reply to RainUndead [2013-07-28 00:13:24 +0000 UTC]
Yeah! Like if the animal was left near a tree or something, the plant could benefit from it, too, right?
