(the servers seemed to be acting up for a bit there, seems fine now )
this is a really interesting set, to compare to your newer pen based illustrations. of course the age/time difference is huge, but still.
I like that quote in your favourites about every child being an artist, and trying to hold onto that. Not so much that it implies ignorance, or innocence, but the resistance to the caustic nature of experience and time.

Yeah it's Picasso who said that (the one you read) and as I'm getting older I keep understanding him more and more, he also said: " A simple thing is the most complex thing to do...." ....Picasso understood the value of childhood EXPERIENCE and channeled it through his refined mature eye....He discovered that the complicated visions in his head might be easily depicted in a simple manner (his cubist style) but when he started to paint he figured out it's more complicated than he initially thought.......
The idea is to stay true to yourself....The world is confusing and will mess you up....I'm already severely messed up....
Trying to use the force of what is attacking you as fuel for your art......
For me it's keeping the fire of whatΒ Β I came with into this world....I'm constantly feeling like I'm missing something and I love drawing... For no particular reason......But one of them is this...that it helps me fill the void in a weird way......
I don't know about Innocence and Experience.... It's a tough topic.....Experience can make you heartless, crude and cynical while on the other hand that's how kids actually are....they are mean...the teacher tells you to always be kind, and selfless in class....So the conclusion would be it depends on WHAT you decide to follow....
For some being ignorant is natural..they won't change.....
Of course here there are people who are genetically evil no matter what.....
Dunno If I'm rambling too much here....
Nature (meaning literally nature) is beautiful but it's often selfish.... Survival is a selfish act.... People's minds and abilities are tested all the time..Brought to the boiling limit by nature....Will you go completely insane and hurt others all the time for your own good or will you also help ? Use your insanity to make art is what I'm trying....I know I'm crazy....I can't be otherwise.....
It's a fine line between what's animal and what's human....
And above all else (OR NOT!). The gene of curiosity which can drive one to do really bad stuff....
Crazy little fellow, Isn't He ?Β (Daffy Duck Style) !
BTW, very well put what you said...Innocence not seen as ignorance, selfishness or stupidity (as many people think)....But more like an abstract thing....I think Innocence and Experience are blended, actually...Like there is no white and black, just grays and tones of colured grays !!!

you're always welcome to ramble at me, that was especially thought provoking and encouraging
now that I've switched to a bigger desk I should get back to drawing again, and ffs I should post those scribbles I've been sitting on!
