I absolutely know what you mean. The original idea started out without the oyster. I just came across this magnificent shell and saw the challenge. When I finished the painting, I seriously doubted if this had been a good Idea?!

Beautiful color arrangement! I know the level of difficulty you had to endure to create a work of art like this as I use Acrylics also the traditional style. (Never took the time to try oils). Thanks for sharing!

Hmm... The Voice of the Sea?
The first idea that came to mind. Shells are known for the murmur of waves hidden in them, and objects that are thrown ashore speak of events that happened somewhere in the water plains. Also, that lady looks as if she really wished to speak, but couldn't; from another point of view she can be a personification of sea, the personification some of us need to start communicating with "mere" water...
