The opalescence of the shell is really amazing! I love the odd perspective - one doesn't often see a wall of water. Her skirt is beautiful, as well.
As for a title, this is definitely reminiscent of The Birth of Venus...

the colours in the shell are absolutely outstanding, painting incandescent things is always filled with difficulty you seemed to have pulled it off great here

This painting is amazing! Colors are great,it's very elegant and very well represented
I have just two questions:
First,it seems that there are two perpendicular "water"planes one horizontal, from which the mermaid come out,
and a vertical one where the bottle seems to be stucked in..
it's just an impression or it's really as I wrote?
If it is, what they represent?
Onother observation is about those (that I supposed to be) waterdrops:
I think they seem a little too thick to be water, they look like filaments of something.
Could you give me a brief answer about the two points I've focused on please?
Thank you a lot in advance

Yes there are two watersurfaces. The water, or paint-droplets connecting both worlds gives a certain idea of movement. I just wanted to create a watery surreal feeling.
Thanks for your wonderfull compliment!

Thanks to you for replying so quickly and for doing this masterpiece with a lot behind the appereance to wonder about..
The idea of the two worlds-dimensions connected by the substance they're made of is great!
I love this painting even more than at the first glance!

How do you make your oil move like this? Oil is one of my favorite mediums and I love to work in it, but I don't know how long it will take me to get my work looking anywhere close you what yours does. It's like you paint a photograph onto canvas, adding richness and texture that is rarely ever seen. I can't tell you how much I love your paintings. But I always wonder what the secret is. Do you use glazing? Airbrush? You don't have to say if you don't want to. It might even steal all the wonder away by revealing your method.
Please keep up the great work. I love seeing it, again and again.

Thank you very much for your wonderfull compliments!
And Yes, I use a painting-medium. A mixture of oil and turpentine.
And I also use glazing techniques. No airbrush!!!
Love Christiane
