I have just started oil-painting and have really no idea what I am doing. The best way i have found to do detail is to really preplan a lot and make a large paint by number picture. This way I don't have to do as much wet on wet which sometimes requires me to build the paint up too much to get the color I desire. I was curious what you did (if you care divulge your secrets).
