Seeing its categorization makes me think it will evolve into a Grass/Dragon type and it sorta looks that way already. I'm looking forward to seeing the other two and their evolutions later on as well.

I cant stand pokemon that evolve into a totally different looking creature, like how does a fish turn into a serpent? or or a pokemon with no arms and legs suddenly has big strong arms in it's final form, and other things like that, I like to show real evolution, not transformation to a whole new species, that's just me tho..

Soleviatis In reply to RaiZhuW-The-Real [2014-05-23 15:47:37 +0000 UTC]
That makes sense and I prefer Pokémon with that kind of progression as well. It just makes more sense to actually evolve rather than transforming but with the whole metamorphosis subject given it works sometimes. However it's easier to do with a stage inbetween, which fills the spot of being a cocoon of sorts.
At least that works with bugs and frogs so why not use it with other species like the Larvitar line or Bagon line for example.

Yeah but a cocoon metamorphosis is completely different then a species evolving into a completely different species, like Venonat to Venomoth, Trapinch to Vibrava, Feebas to Milotic, and etc, there cool pokemon but it's a complete species change, not if there's a item that fosters the change that would be different that would be considered the cocoon in the evolution but there isn't so it irritates me haha!

Now I see what you mean. Then again Pokémon always had the ability to change shape and size rather suddenly as opposed to any species from our world. Maybe that's why some of them can turn into something completely different. What irritates me more are things like Remoraid evolving to Octillery. Some apparently random evolutions at least have a myth to them, which explains the whole thing. Then there are the ones that just seem so random and out of nowhere, that it makes me wonder, where those ideas came from in the first place.

Lol that's what I'm talking about, the ones I listed to you are completely different species, Venonat has bug eyes, feet and legs along with antennae, which Venomoth doesn't have any of that and flies, pretty much a furry ant transforming into a moth, Trapinch, small eyes big sharp mouth large head, thick legs no tail, and red, but Vibrava big eyes, small head, skinny legs, large wing and green. two completely different forms, Feebas is a fish, and Milotic is a sea serpent, not much needing explained there lol, and Remoraid and Octillery is the same exact thing I was talking about!!!

Soleviatis In reply to RaiZhuW-The-Real [2014-05-25 21:06:56 +0000 UTC]
With Venonat is the rumor of being switched with Caterpie and looking at Butterfree as well as Venomoth next to them makes me think just that. Trapinch has the point of being based on the antlion, which turns into a dragonfly looking creature and even Flygon makes use of this. Feebas pretty much does, what Magikarp did before with the only difference being, that it takes inspiration from the fairy tale The Ugly Duckling whereas Magikarp goes the way of a legend about karp becoming dragons upon leaping over a waterfall. Most Pokémon can be understood in their evolutions once you know the origins of their design but I mentioned Remoraid and Octillery specifically since I have no idea, what brings those two together. Only thing would be their category "Jet Pokémon" and their talent for shooting attacks. That's why they confuse me so much.
P.s.: not trying to persuade you into liking such things but explaining their backgrounds a bit in case you were wondering.

Yeah but there isn't a cocoon for Venonat to Venomoth, so it's a species change without reason for the change, other than some shared colors they are two completely different pokemon! I've known about Magikarp, that's why I didn't list him lol, Feebas being a reference to an ugly duckling is just speculation though, it's still a complete change without a probable cause, and there is almost no trace of the past forms form both Milotic and Gyarados, Trapinch and his 2nd form is another example of a complete species change with no trace of it's past form at all, changing a form is one thing, but removing a color ine is a hole different story, Like Magikarp being red and Gyarados being blue, the same goes for Remoraid and Octillery lol! I understand what ur saying, I'm just saying none of my pokemon will have species changes from evolution, unless there was a hint of it in the pre-evo form lol like a lizard with baby wing being a dragon with large wings upon evolution!

Ah, now I get what you're talking about. That sounds cool and I'm looking foward to seeing your ideas with that concept being the base. No complete changes but always hints if there is something about to happen. Guess that will give a very natural feel to all the species you come up with.

Yeah, unless there is a Cocoon type of 2nd form or item, they will be naturally evolved lol

Lol who knows, I'm still debating how I wanna do my first Bug Pokemon, do I want to go Caterpie & Weedle like, with there being 3 different forms for each, or do I want to go more like Wurmple, where it evolves into two different branches... most likely the Wurmple route, but I'm not sure yet!

Soleviatis In reply to RaiZhuW-The-Real [2014-05-31 16:08:26 +0000 UTC]
Maybe like Wurmple but with a bit less randomness? Wurmple evolves depending on its personality value, which makes it really seem totally random. Using a time factor like with Eevee evolving into Espeon or Umbreon can be one way there. I like Wurmple but the randomness of it is annoying.

RaiZhuW-The-Real In reply to Soleviatis [2014-06-08 12:03:20 +0000 UTC]
I'm gonna do it like Wurmple's but I think I might make it harder to get the final forms than by level, like hold a specific item, at a specific time of the day, and level them up, I mean their gonna be Bug/Fairy and Bug?Dragon, I can't make them eacy to get with those typings can I? Bug pokemon alone are pretty strong, a bug/fairy or bug dragon? everyone would have atleast one of them in their parties lol!

Soleviatis In reply to RaiZhuW-The-Real [2014-06-08 17:22:45 +0000 UTC]
Dem typings... you're getting me hooked with that alone. Bug/Fairy could be like a beautiful butterfly and Bug/Dragon would be genious when looking like a dragonfly (dunno why Flygon and Yanmega don't have that in the first place) I'm quite intrigued with the fact, that you go for many combinations, that aren't there so far.

If I do one a butterfly Id have to do the other a butterfly or a moth, seeing as the first stage will be the same for them both, the final forms will have to atleast be the same species.

Soleviatis In reply to RaiZhuW-The-Real [2014-06-11 02:42:58 +0000 UTC]
Guess that makes it more of a surprise if the cocoon remains the same with the difference only coming for the final forms. Wurmple on the other hand... well it's your decision after all.
