I've been meaning to try and draw my version of Kion's and Rani's cubs for a while now, and even though these designs are not 100% final, I wanted to post them anyways ^^

From left to right: second oldest (darkest coat), oldest (the one with the hair tuft) and youngest (lightest coat).

Unlike other prides, lionesses at the Night Pride usually give birth to larger litters (c'mon, they live at the Tree of LIFE) to the point that singleton cubs are almost unheard of, and long ago it was even considered a bad omen to have just one cub, especially in the royal family. (PS. Please keep in mind that lions in TLK seem to function like human families and it's implied that having one cub per litter it's the standard).

Now, let's talk about the cubs themselves: I haven't decided any names, but they're all girls, including the cub in the middle, who is (or will grow into) ac a maned lioness.

She's also the oldest triplet and theoretically the heiress to the throne after Rani, a fact she LOVES reminding her sisters about while having their royal lessons together. Despite her somewhat cocky attitude, she's not a bad cub, she just loves to tease her sisters lol.

The second oldest cub (on the left) finds her older sister's bragging amusing, although she's also quick to make a few sassy remarks. She's expected to become the leader of the Night Guard when she grows up, or when her uncle Baliyo steps down from the position.

The youngest cub (on the right) finds the whole conversation irritating and childish. She's the most serious and dutiful of the triplets (a precocious maturity perhaps inherited from Kion?), which is ironic because in theory she won't become Queen nor leader of the Night Guard as an adult.

[ Not too happy about the background, but I don't have access to my usual brushes so I guess this will have to do for now. Man, I do not want to draw grass by hand ever again xD Hopefully I'll redo it as soon as I get my photoshop back. In the meantime, you can also check the cubs' flat colors HERE if you're curious ].
