"my finger smells weird..." hehe.
nah, I really like this dear! I both like and hate the dolls, it's weird. they're probably the second best monster in downpour. my favourite is the weeping bat. I dunno why but I just find them afdorable XD this is really lovely, as though her feelings are as cold and empty as her porcelain body :c

Emmiiiieeee ^0^
I'm glad you like it β₯
I have an unhealthy obsession with the Dolls @0@ They're one of my favorite monsters. Though, I never saw them as cold and empty, actually. More the opposite. I always saw them as being one of the more sentient monsters in the town-- one of the ones closest to being human, but... driven mad by everything in that place.
Going from there, I can imagine them being scared, like humans, and scared OF humans... Humans who would attack them on sight, or -- judging from that one Doll that Murphy finds already dead -- do even worse things to them. :c And so the Dolls learned to lash out first, hurt the humans before the humans can hurt them.
Especially considering the look of the Dolls as being representative of a sexually abused and beaten young woman/child, this is even easier for me to believe. Also the fact that they're the only monster in the game that you're "supposed" to spare their life. You get a worse ending if you kill them all. You're just supposed to knock them unconscious and then leave them there.
They also try to run away when you're hurting them ;-; I hate having to fight them, I feel so bad every time.
Of course this is just all my conjecture. I don't follow the "the monsters are all just reflections of different parts of the main character's psyche" thing, so I think of Doll as having been "someone" before she became a monster there. As Vincent Smith would say: "They look like MONSTERS to you?"

ahh but Vincent was only joking when he said that. it's canon that the monsters represent the persons inner psych. :3 and they never run away from me XD they fall over, the shadows I mean, but they never run from me. they follow me relentlessly and batter me to death if there's more than one. I personally find them a huge pain, the shadows are fast and almost invisible without a UV flashlight, they're aggressive and their giggling is almost like they're mocking poor murphy. I have an idea what they represent... the screamers for example are projections of carol. towards the end of their marriage she was probably your A-Typical nagging, yelling wife especially after Charlie died. the prisoner minions are pretty self explanatory.
I feel about weeping bats the way you do about the dolls. I think they're adorable! especially when they step backwards and huff at you from a distance XD as if saying "you stay the fuck back!" I dunno why but it makes me smile. I HATE attacking them.. but I needed to to get the piΓ±ata party trophy :c I love their snorting noises ..like a horse almost. and their faces make me smile XD.
I actually made a comic strip featuring a weeping bat. i'll upload page one in a second. β₯
but yeah.. the monsters in downpour definitely could have been much better, but then again murphy hasn't really done anything to warrant the level of punishment say james had or harry. :3
