Description
Contest entry forRace: Glow Beasts
Species: Glow Bat
Race Bio:
Glow beasts live in a dimension along side our own. They primarily radiate and feed on light. They can only be fully seen if a creature can see all the spectrum of lights, other than that only the stronger glow beasts can be seen because they radiate a light that is within our level of perception.
-Mating habits are unknown and are found to be spontaneous.
-How they absorb light and use it for fuel is also unknown.
-There are also theroies that blackholes are nothing more that a huge hungry Glow Beast.
Species Bio:
Glow bats are small creatures that are attracted to huge bright cites. They get a constant supply of light from the city and prefer to live in high spaces. They are harmless to humans but do tend to attract more aggressive glow beasts which may cause unknown power outages, electrical storms and a rise in spontaneous actions. Such as drinking, gambling even murder depending on how strong the glow beast is and how mentally sounds the human is.
Inspiration:
I was watching a TV show that had lil' documentaries about paranormal stuff. One was about a light that would appear with no known source. Lots of people thought it was aliens, others ghosts but I thought "Why not beasts?". HP Lovecraft wrote one story about a man who made a machine that could see what we were not suppose to see. A world along side our own, hidden by our limited perception.
Here you can watch a short animated based on the story: [link]

Right off i noticed a very lovecraftish impression to the design. This is not a typical bat nor monster, but apparently a hybrid with Cthulhu Mythos influence. It is unique and ingenious, and i may contact you for permission to include it in a story later. The mythos influences are that the bat's wings face and tail are not animal as we know them. I liked that most if all. The face appears eyeless yet it must see perhaps through extrasense. The background was well-matched. This shows good, clear sense. I will definitely await the next.
Btw, one fantasy group i joined before had a contest like this.

I love what u did with this picture. This has elegance written all over it. I especially love the colour choice you used. And its a really nice pic.
I Also love the detail and the hard work that has been put into this pic. It really shows that the artist really works hard.
This is a great pic and id be glad to add this pic to a collection or my favs. It really is a great picture, mate. \
Again, You've outdone yourself on this.
Another thing i like about it is the background. It really blends well with the pic.

Great work mate, Very original and with all original work it's hard to keep adding detail onto it but you've managed well here. Just a few things I've noticed was that the smaller detail such as the design in the background isn't really popping out(maybe try a different color) and the eyes are purple but it would make more of an impact if they were a brighter color and giving a radiance to create a light source or maybe just really dark instead of purple. There isn't really a clear sense of where the light in this is coming from and that should be clear to create atmosphere and give the artwork a sense of direction. Hope all this work and keep up the good work.

Look at this cutie patootie~
I'm glad you kept the bat-ears for the bat-like creature. Also nice job on the lighting with the body, the lights are pushing the image forward and darks s are pushing parts back, giving it dimension! Keep on working on that and bringing it out more around the picture, like more in the head, although I know it's supposed to be glowing. Just some more lights there could probably do it without messing up the glow effect

Thankeez^^ I've been really trying to work on my shading^^
N the glow isn't suppose to be bright. Only the stronger Glow Beasts have a brighter glow.^^
If this lil guy was stronger he'd be glowing orange^^
N I did put shading around the eyes O_o But I think the glow made that poof xD
