'Cornered in your own temple and assailed by the agents of darkness, but yet to be defeated.'
This piece of art was created for the Dungeons & Dragons supplement 'the Book of Vile Darkness'. It is unusual to be asked to show a Golden Dragon in such a parlous situation, and I relished showing the details of the fight.
I tilted the horizon line to add tension, which along with the curve of the Dragon's back and wing leads the viewers eye to the action on the right.
The artwork also needed to fit into a strict format to fit across two pages, and you can find out more about that on my blog:

I don't know much about D&D, but I do know that it seems odd to have energy swords in a magical world, I love dragons, and I love the armor on that guy in the back right, though I have yet to figure out exactly why he is there and not in the actual fight. Unless he is holding a huge sword as I originally thought.

The guy att he back is casting the fire magic.

Oh okay, it looked like he was posing or something so that clarifies it mostly (it still looks a bit like he's casting it away from the dragon). And you're welcome!
