Description
The Hundred Handed OneThe Plane Above - chapter start artwork; Dungeons & Dragons. Β©Wizards of the Coast
Acrylic, Approx 21" x 19".
Original Artwork for sale; Β£1500
The Paladin stood his ground against the monstrosity, trusting that his faith in Avandra would serve him in battle against the dread abomination - as it was the Eladrin utilised something more immediate...
This was created as a chapter start for a D&D supplement, and spreads across two pages of a book, with the guttering falling about a third in from the left.
To accomodate this I tailored the composition so that interest occured on both pages, with the flow of The Hundred Handed One and the spell effect carrying the composition across the gutter. The effect was further emphasised by the strong colour contrasts in the figures; Red, Green and Blue.
Lastly the Horizon line was titled and a low POV chosen to further accentuate the dynamic action.
The D&D book can be found here:

I really like it when an artist does an epic piece with an enemy that is a large grotesque organism composed of smaller ones. I can only imagine the kind of Dryad that would be willing to lead a would be adventurer to that kind of tree.

The Hundred handed one was sent to Tartarus because it likes to play Patty Cake, the racket was just too much.
Again thanks for describing how you set up your pictures.
Looks great.
