Having conquered the dungeon the adventurers seeks a spot of R&R in the local town, but all the citizens can see is a sudden influx of wealth and an opportunity to make some of their own.

I relished the chance to do a busy street scene, and opted to for a top down view to give a panoramic sweep, and slight detachment to the viewer. The two far background areas, top left and right, provide focal points with the eye being led between these two by following the course of the adventurers. Who in turn provide focus through the attentions of the crowd.

Adventurers in town must be like an early Christmas for merchants!
Are those the new iconics? Looks like you've enjoyed painting them.

Yeah - it would be wouldn't it

They were certainly a ste of iconics for these pieces, whether they will have a life beyond these pieces...

There's so much going on this picture! It's so hard to comment on one thing without having to comment on the rest of the picture!

Overall, it's really good!

I do love the wizard, like he's about to toad the next person that tries to unload a vase or cupcake on him.

It's pretty cool to see your work in the 4e books, and the Eberron artist plus a few others. A bunch of top notch stuff!

Now, is it just me, or is your DnD stuff more clearly defined and vibrant, whereas your Warhammer stuff tends to be less defined and the colors more muted...?

RalphHorsley In reply to feuer-faust [2008-06-18 07:42:57 +0000 UTC]

There probably is a slight difference with the Warhammer stuff, the latter is a lot grittier.

Thanks.

As usual I am blown away at how many people you can fit into a piece and still have great composition. You really do an amazing job at leading people through the scene. I think this is my favorite of you pieces thus far, I really like the light and the colors....and especially the textures! Seriously, that thatched roof is amazing.

I hope you don't mind my asking, but how long does it take you to finish something like this?

"Hey! These guys have money!"

I'm actually kind of amazed that I haven't seen anyone else think of this before. Maybe successful characters should have to make disguise checks before entering a city if they want to have any peace and quiet. ^.^
