Description
Well, I decided to go a little further with my Catia 3D models. This time I made a drawing, of what I think, was the moment when Nomad fired at the USS Enterprise, when he first met the Federation Starship, in the STAR TREK episode “The Changeling”. This scene didn’t appeared in the episode, the only thing that was seen, was the moment when Mr. Sulu warned that the shields had just snapped on and that something was heading in at multiwarp speed; then Mr. Spock warned that it was an extremely powerful bolt of energy. In the episode we could see the energy bolt, but not the moment when Nomad fired. For my drawing, I tried to keep the shape of the energy bolt, as much similar to what was seen in the Enterprise Bridge as possible.
The background starfield was made by me on Photoshop CS4, then Nomad and his lights were fully drawn and rendered in Catia V5, using that CS4 starfield as background. There was no action of the Catia program on the still image.
Then when the rendered image of Nomad in the starfield was done, I opened it in CS4 and added the energy bolt. This is my first attempt of adding special effects using CS4. More will come in the future and I hope to learn more and more.
