Description
11/26/14 I elaborated on some of his history and the Faction suggestion information. Here's my entry for the faction leader contest! His history and info are written with that in mind, so all that is subject to change depending on what happens with the contest. I'm flexible about changing particular details too. His essence will remain the same. :3 (Why do I pick hard to draw breeds? Why?)
Name: Cadogan (KA-doh-gan)
Breed: Irish Wolfhound
Height: 34"
Weight: 140lb
Age: 4 (Middle-aged for an IW)
Gender: Male
Orientation: Heterosexual
Altered: No
Faction: Farm Dogs
Rank: Applying for leader contest
Family: None
Mate: None Yet
Color: Grey with rusty tips
Defining Features: He has a coarse, wiry coat. He usually has a rope collar around his neck. He smiles often, but his whiskers often hide it, so it's sometimes hard to see exactly what his expression is, which can be nerve-wracking. His body has the trademark rhythmic lines of a sighthound, but doesn't tend to carry himself or move and walk with any airs and graces.
Voice Actor: Liam Neeson
Accent: He has an extremely mild rural Irish accent that is almost entirely undetectable except in the rare case that he gets angry, or otherwise emotionally preoccupied.
Personality: Cadogan is at his core- Fatherly. He has a solid, calm, regal, quiet Irish Wolfhound demeanor with a good dose of Old-World charm. He is unflappable, and approaches everything with careful consideration. He is soft-spoken, doesn't tend to say more than he has to, which makes the words he does speak carry a powerful weight and gravitas. Despite his rank, he is inherently humble, and doesn't seem to think he is anything special. He was born elsewhere, but farming and the land he works is thick in his blood. Not a typical farming breed (a herding or cattle dog), the rural life is still as natural to him as any of the other farming dogs. His human doesn'tt raise livestock anyway, but instead has an extensive acreage of multiple crops that supply the whole area, and Cadogan serves as the perfect, eagle-eyed guardian. Indeed, being a sighthound, nothing gets by Cadogan unseen. His amber eyes are gentle but piercing and knowing, and easily communicate what he means before he says anything at all. He also works as a beast of burden on the farm, basically serving any purpose he needs to. His overall carriage is that of a gentle father, but he is also capable of a cold severity in the face of wrong doing, injustice, or someone breaking the Faction's laws. He is entirely capable of sentencing and personally carrying out just punishment with little openness for leniency. His quiet personality can also lead to Meloncholia, he can succumb to feelings of depression or loneliness. He takes the Farm Dog way of life very seriously, and loves the community with all his heart. He considers the Faction to be his family, and serves as a source of paternal advice as well as leadership. He is not extremely open to new or unconventional ideas, but any dog can appeal to his rock solid logic, and he will hear anyone out- making no promises. The Farm Dogs and the land they work are sacred to Cadogan, and everything else seems to come second.
Pre-Group History: Cadogan was brought from Ireland as a very young pup when his Irish master (a woman) married a local farmer. The land he lives on now is all he really knows, he remembers very little of anywhere else. He can remember the smell of the marshes, and verdant, green fields and stone walls, but not much more. He was bred from two working dogs, Irish Wolfhounds, and bought fairly young to serve the same purpose. He remembers his mother's voice, but does not have many memories of his parents. He loved the woman dearly, who was really his mother figure growing up, and both he and her new husband were shattered when she died of cancer when Cadogan was 2 years old. After her death, Cadogan and his master came together and bonded closely, as they were both the only piece the other had of their lost loved one. Cadogan now considers him "The Man", a comrade, master, and teammate. They continue to age together, becoming more alike with each passing day. Cadogan gained notoriety among the Farm Dogs when he killed a coyote that had been hunting, killing, and injuring local dogs. The fight was an epic tale, one that got passed from dog to dog until he became something of a legend. Cadogan, being who he is, would self-deprecate and refuse to further encourage the passing around of his story, but the word was already out. Many would come to him with their problems, and he proved to have talent for advice, problem solving, and organizing. When the leader of the Farm Dog faction died, he was their logical choice. He accepted reluctantly but graciously, and continues to consider himself a servant of the faction and leading as his duty, not his right.
Group History: N/A
Kibbles Count: None Yet!
Changes to the Faction:
I might be interested in doing non-mandatory, semi-monthly prompts or faction specific events that probably wouldn't effect kibbles like an MSE, but would be fun things for Farm Dogs to bond and collaborate over. That way, we can develop a collective faction history that we all share.
In general, I think it would be fun to implement a few faction-specific customs, which all the staff could deliberate on and approve.
This is more just like a side note: I don't know how much cross-faction interaction we plan on having, but I think it would be interesting to have some official methods of diplomacy the Farm Faction would afford either ambassadors from other groups, or strangers found to be in need. Being one of the most organized, "sophisticated" factions, I feel like they might take pride in how strangers perceive them in their territory. Just for example, they might officially recognize leaders or messengers from other factions and have protocols in place on how to treat them. I also feel like they might have a standing protocol in place for unexpected strangers, because Hospitality is a very important cultural thing in many rural places. So once the stranger is confirmed to be harmless and in need, they might be obligated to give them one night's meal and shelter, then send them on their way. SOMETHING LIKE THAT. It's just a thought, by no means a deal breaker if it doesn't fly.
About Me/RP experience:
I've been RPing since the early 2000's on sites like lilymud.net, and many other sites that don't even exist anymore. XD
Well, you probably know me from , but I'll put a link to both of my character's profiles where a lot of their activity is listed:
I'd put Sabien here but she isn't featured in anything yet.
I was also the founder and main moderator of and RPG Art group that was similar to this, but was around before these super organized all-on-DA groups were common. You could almost say it was a precursor to this kind of thing. :3 There are 51 listed members, but it was closer to 160 members (because the forum was really the home-base for the group). The adjoining forum is viewable HERE (that's where all the RP's happened). Ugh, excuse the background image, it's been dormant for a few years and things seem to have gone a bit wonky since I checked it last. XD It was very pretty, I promise.

Thank you!
Hahaha, no kidding! This group JUST opened, so it shouldn't be closing or anything. XD You totally should, Dodge! LET'S DO THIS. <3 I have a few ideas for characters I need to choose from that I'm going to put in (this guy won't officially be a "registered" group member until after the contest), so if you want to join we can talk through notes about potential chars if we want to plan a dynamic duo before we even put 'em in. >

I wanted to let you guys know that I set a closing date for the 1st just because I didn't want everyone entering now to take up all the spots in the group before later people could join. I hope this will be enough time to get your apps in <3

Thanks a lot! We're already busy plotting though, so it should all work out nicely. ;3
I got one question though, about the tasks for pet fraction dogs - how strict do you have to stick to one or can you also be a bit creative about the general idea?
Fact is, I have this idea for a sort of P.I. dog - would that work or shrink his chances for getting accepted a lot?

What do you mean by "P.I.?" I'm open to the character being involved in different activities, for example we have one applicant who wants their character to be a fire station dog, which would generally fall under the Police Dog or Watch Dog tasks. So there is room for different jobs within a task =]

Wait, here is what I have so far - sta.sh/0233zmw7qtw5 - he'd basicly be, well, between companion dog and police dog, I guess? Since he's the pet of the local doctor, but solving crimes to get himself occupied, because he's a working dog. Basicly I'm a little unsure, if he needs to be owned by somebody 'matching' the police dog task or if it's okay to have him owned as a family dog, while he himself chose to help and protect others, by solving 'crimes' nobody else can find a solution to. ;3
I'm not sure, if I might not just be thinking too complicated now and it's no big deal in the end, but I thought it better to ask. ;3

yeah that works =] He'd fall under Police Dog, since essentially all Pets are companion dogs to begin with
