Never block! its all about shifting from background to front shapes and keeping an eye of the whole thing without specific order.
I also try to leave my pencil/brush over the surface and move it in a natural fluid motion, your hand must follow your eyes and translate as if you were "touching what you see"
hope it makes some sense
have a nice day!!

I love all of the textures. I agree with the other person who says that it has an old world feel.

I also like Norman Rockwell. He was one of the first artists I fell in love with as a kid. It also reminds me of Van Gogh's loom weavers. (I love Van Gogh). Did you know that he drew and then painted and then went back to drawing for an entire year. I thought that was one of the most interesting facts I learned about him in my "Van Gogh phase".

I've recently discovered Norman and I'm amazed by his technique!

Even though he is working on something modern like a computer, this drawing has an old fashioned feel, sorta Norman Rockwell, or like an illustration for something old-timey... as though he should be tinkering in his workshop, or typesetting, or typing on an old typewriter, or handwriting something... just my impressions.

Ha! I was thinking Norman Rockwell too!! I recently bought a book of him and I noticed this kind of pose is recurrent in his work (specially in one of his selfportraits).
And its a very old computer indeed haha!!
Thanks Merton
