I could see this happening. Β Very close to something I imagined very recently.

and at that moment, Nicholas Cage is pulling a woman out of a fallen building in NewYork and the orange beam contrasts with a blue filter in the atmosphere.

And somewhere else, Sol rages at the bad choice of colours the sky took on. And a bit later, everything is burned to ash.

and then Sol looks upon the ash and saw that it was good.

And then she proceeded to shape the world in her image.

It is coherent. if they believe that they are the center of the world, they will be destroyed first. Awesome image.

I like it targetting the U.S.A. first, Take that 'muricans! Sure, the rest of us will die as it destroys the planet, but they went down first!
And honestly, if the world's gonna be destroyed by something, a giant laser-tardigrade is one of the more interesting and unexpected harbingers of doom.

Burning down the USA first has a pragmatic reason, though; the majority of Earth pictures show it from that side.
Yes, definitely better than Zombie Apocalypse Nr. 14967

Just because it has a pragmatic reason doesn't mean I can't enjoy it, hehehe.
Or a giant rock from space hitting us, the dinosaurs did that first and we don't want to be copying them.

Or global ice age. Or most parts of the oceans becoming anoxic. Or resource-hungry monkeys overbreeding and...wait.

That last one sounds familiar indeed.

In space, no one can hear the tardigrade piano.

Now I wonder what a tardigrade piano sounds like when it isn't in space.

If the name of the creature is written in the title, do you expect a serious answer?

Cute apocalypse is better than scary apocalypse. Enjoy the tardigraderise before being blasted to death.
