Considering an abnormal high amount of Overlord fans are biologists, discussions get fairly often into biological, anatomical and evolutionary speculation. This is meant to be the last common ancestor of the four minion tribes, in other words, a very primitive minion.

I wouldn't exclude that Taegan poked around in the timespace and formed his shape after this. But it is probably yet another expression of the hivemind.
