Study, 24×24cm, acrylic and coloured pencils on carton.
First in a series of studies, all with the same subject of tortoiseshell cats among yellow roses. I was inspired by Djamila Knopf's beautiful work "Home".
While AI image use is controversial to say the least, I rendered the compositions in various AIs before drawing over and painting them. This one was generated by Stable Diffusion. The study is painted on the carton back of a spiral block - I like to use these leftovers for things I fit into small time slots.
Four are done, four more are in the works, all 20×30cm except this one. So far the series is going well with the caveat that the AIs were of course too dumb to create proper cats with proper lighting, so most of that information comes from photos; between that, the different surfaces from old book covers to frames' back plates and FLOWERS - which I have never been much good at, hence the studies - I have my hands full. But what can go wrong with kittens and flowers, right?
