The birds always flocked to the visitors as soon as they arrived. Even long after everyone on Earth had had to take to wearing suits against the vegetation, they made do with only veils.

It's not often that basing a piece directly off my sketches works out - there are usually composiiton issues - but this one worked out well. Thanks!

Danke!

I really like the trees in this one.

Thanks! The original sketch had a turquoise/orange scheme that I really wanted to keep because it's so unusual for a forest. Maybe I should start doing some more regular green forests again though, and not always use every crayon in the box

Great work, I especially like the colour and shape choices for the plants, seems otherworldly and whimsical.

Thanks! That was what I was going for. I love the many shapes trees can take. Which is why one of my all-time favourite movie scenes is the Ents emerging from the forest in LotR: The Two Towers.

Thanks! The drawing was done over leftover paint I had put in my stechbook where I sort of followed the forms established with a rubber roller. I like it when happenstance helps making good pictures

Thanks! I'm happy you like so many of them. This one was based on a more elaborate pencil sketch than most of my speedpaintings.

You can see that, there are more clear elements in the drawing. I really like the colors and the simplicity of this piece ^^

Concerning trees, one tends to either depict them as fuzzy green things, or to go all in and draw every branch and make it weird. I could observe trees all day, but constructing them takes time that I don't alway have, even though it makes such an impact.

I can understand, when I was younger my specialities were trees and horses. I always drew every single leaf. Still without reference, but it always took ages They didn't look as interesting as these.Β

I have friends that ride, so horses have become popular lately too. Trees are otherwise very relaxing to do - if used correctly, the fact that either a smudge or meticulous work can be foliage is a great tool.
