One sometimes has these ideas that one's skills can't represent yet; I am revisiting an idea I already painted years ago but it didn't hold up to my imagination then. Sleep is a welcoming and forgiving - if relentless - thing, catching us as if with many arms to lull and hold us.
I modelled the six-armed one in 3D to help with the cast shadows. It's one of my most ambitious paintings to date, partly because I needed it to look exactly like I wanted when normally I go with the flow to some extent, but here I cringed every time something didn't sit perfectly right from the start
