I remember reading from some unofficial source that Trixie once attended Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns, so we could presume she dropped out at some point (arrogant show-offs would not make good students, after all). If that's true, then Trixie would've known about Twilight and Sunset Shimmer, at least by reputation.

Sunset Shimmer: former personal student of Princess Celestia and vanishing under unknown circumstances.
Trixie Lulamoon: student at Celestia's school for gifted unicorns, yet dropped-out/exspelled.
Twilight Sparkle: personal student of Princess Celestia and declared princess of friendship.
But I'm more of talking about if they were all students of Princess Celestia at the same time.

Forget the Elements, I want to see a show about these three. Three intelligent, beautiful, capable mares(or filiieis growing up), living in the same apartment fighting over boyfriends, struggling with their careers, and generally not getting along.
