I wasn't going to originally, but there wasn't really any other color in the shot to speak of, so it sorta worked out naturally..

I actually stayed in one of these over a weekend.
At a bed and breakfast, It was very small, but quite interesting..
At our old church.. They had one that one of the churches deacons son's lived
in while he worked there.. It was a working ranch too..

If I had a bit of land and a fat chequebook,I`d love to buy that and do it right up,bring it back to it`s glory days, only this time with a sofa and a 50" Plasma

Stuff like this go hand in hand with some moody mono skies and you nailed that here Jon and as fellow John said, the naked very fine tree details add welcome impact too to the proceedings

I like it! That splash of color on the caboose is perfect. Not too bright and not too washed out--it's aged nicely and adds a lot to the shot. Nice detail in the trees. Most of the time when I'm shooting bare trees like this they are just black outlines.
I think the clouds are kick ass, though Well done, JP

I know what you mean about not being able to find the shots--I haven't even been trying to find them lately. This time of year always depresses me anyway and the frustration of never being at the right place at the right time because of the shorter days just kills me

It's one of the reasons I took up long exposure night shots, but now it's too cold for that sort of thing

You'll find 'em. They are just waiting for you to be ready to recieve them when they present themselves

Sure ya will! slumps are part of the game, I have found then one day you won't be able to press the shutter fast enough to get all the great images before you! I don't have anyhting really to post at this time--I haven't been out in over a week...it's just too durn cold up here right now that's why you all get to suffer through my cat pictures

I will let you know if I find anything out.... Was this in Texas somewhere?

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

miniwyo In reply to ranchforman [2008-12-17 19:54:31 +0000 UTC]

It was probably hauled in by truck and set there for storage by some farmer. Boxcars are usually pretty popular for that too. You can pick up an old caboose like that for $500 these days. The reason I was asking for numbers or markings is that with those, I can look it up and find out when it was built, and who owned it.

Seriously.. 500 is all.. WHERE !!!!

miniwyo In reply to ranchforman [2008-12-19 16:56:16 +0000 UTC]

You can just google something like Caboose for sale or something. There is usually an ad for one in the back of Trains Magazine too.
