Description
Mixing a classic game, with it's cartoon spinoff always produces interesting results. In this case, I thought of a bizarre concept thanks to a trophy from Brawl, a song from Barrel Blast and a night of catching up on a missed season. I ran with the idea and lo and behold, I didn't think the plan would work, but in fact concieves terribly too well.Related content

Her name is Kalypso. She was not featured on the show, however she was in the video game Barrel Blast.

Wow, I really don't know what to say. I didn't expect much from the thumbnail, but after clicking it this is very impressive. The picture as a whole is bright and vivid, the characters pop out at you, and the background is fading so as not to over shadow or flatten the characters. The attention to detail is great with the lines as well as the highlights and shading. But lastly I the poses from both characters are so dynamic and engaging. The idea that their fighting is blunt and straight to the point, I love it!! The best part is your choice in who is fighting because I would've never thought I'd see Candy Kong from the TV series versus Kalipso from barrel blast. I guess the only thing left to notice is your anatomy is spot on, mixing realism and cartoon in a well balanced blend, great job!!!! TWO THUMBS UP

I agree! Even if there was just a female Kremling in the series at the time, it would have made things interesting in the show.

Yeah. It wouldβve been awesome. The closest they got to a female croc was mentioning her (in the cartoon).
Barrel Blast was the first time we saw a female Kremling. Kalipso and Kass are the only 2 that have appeared so far (and probably the only ones that ever will XD).

Barrel Blast was the same way for me. I was so excited to see that they had finally created a pair of females for the group. Though I wish to see a few more, like you said, Kass and Kalypso will probably be the only two we'll ever see xD

It wouldβve been awesome to see a female Kasplat or a female Krusha. I heard some people say that K. Rool has (or had) a wife but theyβve never shown her.

So I've heard. It was in the end to Donkey Kong Country 3 before you fight K.Rool that he mentions his wife. Something like he had to call her because he was going to be late for dinner due to fighting Dixie and Kiddy. Something like that anyway, it has been quite some time since I last played the game xD
It would have been awesome for sure to see a female Kasplat, or even a female Kritter.

I did managed to play a bit of DKC2 but I never got to finish it (it was my nephewβs and went he went back to the U.S. he took the game with him and lost it XD).

I wish they put girl Kremlings in the show, I mean it's not like they dont exist! All they had was Candy and everyone but Diddy (who had Dixie) hit on her one way or another

Oh I know, the very least they could have made up a few girls to throw in from time to time. I think thier was two episodes where they mention there are female Kremlings, but never show them. The show could have had more interation and plot development if only they had.

Omg, exactly. I freaked out the first time I heard them mention girls in an episode and I was all "YES FINALY!!" but they didnt show them at all. It was a dissapointing day indeed. Lazy character designers...

Oh Man! I love this Picture! I Candy Kong nore in the Cartoon Show. Their she was clever and a strong Woman. In the original Game, she was a stupid bitch with no brain.
I love this Artwork! Kalypso is also a good Character. hopefully she will get a bigger role in another DK-Game. She maybe could be K. Rools Girlfiend?

I agree! I want to see more of Kalypso too. Let's hope she'll appear in a future game either as a playable character or a level boss, that would be interesting. I quite like the idea of her being K.Rools girlfriend.

Nice concept, I rarelly see any fanart of the DK girls. Especially a good one VS a bad one. (Considering now there are 2 female Kremlings.) Nice touch using the DKC TV series design of Candy Kong.
Anyways exellent job, and nice detail. (They look like they could kick butt lol.) I like the barrel factory background to. Onley critique I have is Candy's legs look quite thin. Still nice job.

That's a pretty strong style and composition you have there! Did you use color pencils aided by a computer program? The characters stand out well against the busy background. (Sorry, but I don't know them.)
I like the way their legs cross through the center space, and the exaggerated pose of the figure on the left. The only critique I can offer you is to perhaps soften the background a tad more or add tonal shading to keep the foreground sharp.
