Description FOR THE LESSENING OF DEATH AND TRAGEDY AND ECONOMIC DESTRUCTION THROUGHOUT THE WORLD BECAUSE OF WAR, WRATH, AND OTHER RELATED CAUSES

Visions of orphaned children, bloodshed on the streets, deadly explosions, and covetous wrath are a terrifying, yet commonplace reality in this world.  Tragedy is scattered across the globe, as war is no new concept.  At any given time, there are at least two countries at odds with each other, and even on a smaller scale, common disagreements and violence on the streets are equally prominent.  Every day, people are dying and we humans, as a species, have become almost complacent in this reality.  It has become so large an issue that today, at the push of a button, entire countries could be wiped out, along with the lives of everyone living there.

How did things ever become this way and why do most people quietly accept it as just fate?  Or maybe some people are just under the impression that it’s “the right thing to do.”  Perhaps we’ve just become desensitized to the terror through years of conditioning from the government and media.  The limbs, the blood, the death, the massive losses felt, the pain experienced by the families and friends of those lost – maybe somewhere deep down, we’re still hoping that one day we’ll win the prize of a perfect society that was promised, if only we pay high enough a price.  But if it’s been shown through years and years of past history, the sacrifices given in hopes to attain this goal are never quite enough to last.

Evidently, this problem is very large in scale and not going to go away on its own, so a solution should be proposed.  If there was a possible way to avoid all of the grief and suffering, I’m sure it would be agreed that any alternative to such violence should be considered.  One could merely remain sanguine and believe that everything will work itself out eventually or that the solution lies in talking it out.  This all sounds very good in theory, but the probability that any two fuming entities are going to listen to each others’ ideas rationally are slim to none.  If everything was going to work itself out, chances are, this would have happened already in the past two to three thousand years.  The truth remains that as long as any two people or societies are in disagreement, that the possibility is always there for more warring.  It’s an unavoidable reality that we must come to terms with before jumping to any conclusions about the true components of human nature.

One could also remain entirely pessimistic and claim that there are no possible solutions; that it is hopeless and there will always be violence and war and there is no hope of controlling it, so why even bother?  In a sense, this is correct, but there is a point in trying to think of an alternative, because my suggestion is simpler than one might think.  In my humble opinion, I propose that all disputes, large and small, should be resolved through an abrasive match of Mortal Kombat.

One of the main and most obvious reasons most people would wish to avoid war, fights and other such terrible circumstances is because of the massive loss of human life.  Through this method, there would be no loss of life, bloodshed, or any injuries at all as all of the fighting would be done virtually.  The opponents would not even have to come into contact with each other.  Because of recent technological advances, the match could be played over two computer units thousands of miles apart.   “Warriors” could be trained in the art of Kombat from an early age and each opposing side could choose the person or people that they believed would be the best qualified to fight.  There is even the possibility that game developers could even produce a new game specially tailored for this purpose where “armies” could be chosen and each side could elect several different fighters for a multi-player battle.  Each could have its own special moves and fatalities, just as different cultures are skilled in different arts of  fighting.  Several matches could be played over a period of time until all players from one side had been eliminated and the winner would take all.  Through such conditioning, the computer’s growling of the words, “Finish him!” could come to elicit the same response as a soldier about to be slaughtered, knowing that his life is about to be cut short at the hands of the enemy.  The proud statement of, “Flawless victory!” could bring about the same emotions as a brigade of men who had just defended their land tooth and nail, in the name of everything they had come to know and love and came out wildly victorious.

In addition, innocent citizens would not have to be put in a position where they would fear for their lives.  Everyone could be free to leave the house, roam about the streets, eat a burrito, or whatever they pleased in peace, without fear of being blown to bits on the sidelines of a viscous and brutal battle.

Secondly, this method would significantly reduce the costs of war.  Governments would be relieved of the burden of having to produce the time, effort, resources and funds needed to rebuild destroyed cities and lives.  What could once amount to a cost of several billions of dollars would now only amount to the cost to train selected citizens in the art of fighting Kombat-style.  Training centers could be built in different regions of countries.  It is possible that a small tax could be instated to cover the cost of the building of these centers and any leftover funding could be used to provide interested families with the tools needed for training in their own homes.

Another plus to this new innovation is that enlistment to fight would not be restricted to any particular age group, physique, gender, or element of physical stamina.  The fearful, weak, old,  sickly, and even children could participate in defending their country to their utmost ability.  No one person would be at a particular disadvantage because of nature’s imperfections.  The only particular cases where one would not be in a position to fight are if they had a severe case of epilepsy, or were blind or paraplegic without use of their arms.  The numbers of people with these particular disabilities is significantly lower than the number of people who are disadvantaged in hand-to-hand combat, therefore, there would be a much larger amount of people available at any given time to battle.

The only drawback I can think of for this method of resolution would, ironically, be the same as the primary reason there was a need for an alternative method to begin with: there would be no loss of life.  This could quite possibly result in a slight overpopulation problem, in which case, we would have to call back on Mr. Swift’s previous proposal to recall all of the different factors brought into play by this and inflict the most effective action against this problem.

I wholeheartedly believe that this is the most effective solution to the pain and costs caused by such disputes for the reasons listed above.  After all, today we live in a world where entire countries could be devastated at a whim.  After all, the truly resourceful factor about this method is that you could bring entire societies to their downfall with the push of a button, but without the mushroom clouds!  This is why I propose that we put our current technology toward making the world a better, safer, significantly less bloody place for everyone.
