Description Ian swam cautiously through the deep waters as he got closer to the sunken ship. He gripped his leather wristband tighter on his wrist as the dilapidated ship came into view. Ian came to a stop and gulped. Why was he doing this? More importantly, did he even want to do this? No, but if he wanted to impress the kids at school, he had to. He was instructed to go to the sunken ship off the reef and steal something that looked valuable, then go back and give it to them. Ian had always been shy, ever since he could remember. Shy and reserved. Shy and awkward. Shy and scared.

He gulped again and brushed his hair out of his face and swam forward, approaching a port hole.

“H-hello?” he called quietly. “Anyone in there?” There was a sudden burst of bubbles. Ian yelped and thrust himself down behind some seaweed. He hunkered down, playing with the end of his blue fin as he counted the minutes. His tail was a darker blue than the rest of his skin, which resembled more of a sky blue. After a while, nothing attacked him, and he felt his panic decrease. He took a deep breath of water and went to peek his head out of his hiding spot and laughed with relief as he saw a puffer fish swimming around innocently. He laughed at his own nerves; how could a puffer fish scare him? It’s kind of a big one, he thought to himself as he swam forward into the bowels of the ship.

Again, he stopped and looked around, considering to just forget the whole thing and going on with his life. As a recluse, with no friends, no social skills, and…Yeah. He was going through with this. He had to take a chance once in his life, otherwise he’d never go anywhere. But did he even want to go anywhere? Ian shook his head to shake the thoughts from his head and pressed on.

The sunken ship had been on the outskirts of town for as long as Ian could remember, but that didn’t help his fear. It had always been something of a legend, surrounded with stories of merpeople disappearing. It also held stories about weird artifacts from the human world, possessing weird powers.

And thus Ian got his green necklace! I wrote that lil' excerpt when I was bored and never finished it.

But anyway, this whole picture started out as a perspective/foreshortening practice and turned into...this.
