Description
This was done for another friend's 19th birthday party, the sorting hat application on facebook placed her in Gryffindor so I thought I'd be adventurous and have a go at the crest. This was the result. I'll post a making of it at some point.The crest was drawn free hand using a reference and then painted with food colouring.
I used a reference for the crest and used it with respect. I'm not sure who the copyright for the image belongs to.

Very nice! I did cakes in the past, but it was never anything that complex. Did you use fondant?

I use 'white icing' which is a cheap version of regal icing that I must confess I buy ready made. I then mark out the design very lightly with a toothpick to give me guidelines. Then paint the design using food colourant.
