Original sketch used for reference by a pupil of Leonardo's, found in the book 'Leonardo Da Vinci: The Divine and the Grotesque', by Martin Clayton.Sculpture in Plasticine on brushed aluminium plate. About 160mm tall.

Thanks! The scanned image from the book is a bit washed-out - there were some areas of shade that have not reproduced - so some of the detail is lost here. The rest I made up based on Leo's sketches of other faces. I wanted to include his signature wavy locks and gentle gaze that he bestows on many of his subjects. Also, the book mentions that by all accounts Leo was a beautiful man. Hopefully I have done him justice! xx

Many thanks! I had to do it as a partial relief really, since the student's sketch is rather flat. It's a bit skewed because I didn't leave enough depth but shh, people might not notice.
