Description
There is an excess of red in the night sky,a splatter of paint across the snow,
a pinprick of colour in the
falling crimson snowflakes.
There is a poisonous red mist that settles
between the burnt out wire limbs
of trees with embers for leaves,
and the collapsing comets in the spiral galaxy sky
forecast a storm.
There is a red fire raging
behind her ice cube eyes,
of loose screws and blunt pencils,
and peering through keyholes
at thin ice shattered on a stagnant lake.
There is a red ribbon tied tight around her wrist,
and jagged lines scratched into the dirt.
And the only sounds are the dust red leaves that fall
on snowflake skin and greyscale glass,
and the crystalline hailstones skimming past
reversed night skies.
(And so tonight she's boxed up the little voice in her head that tells her this could all go very badly wrong.)
