Do not steal.
Purple, green, and gold are mardi gras colors, which are famous in Louisiana.
Flags should not have words, so I removed the state motto, as that should be in the state seal, not in the state flag.
I added the black lines on the corners to distinguish the flag from other US state flags with the blue generic background.
I added 3 fleur-de-lis to represent France, Spain, and the USA.
